Sounds like King was well beaten by the ruck combo of Rhys Stanley and Abbott (59 hit-outs between them),

agree. Dees need to offer Trengove one last opportunity. He has performed at Casey as opposed to Kent, JKH or Hannan.

Plus Keilty went off in the first 10 minutes with concussion who was the only other sorta ruckman on the field so Kingy had a huge job, especially agaisnt someone of Stanley's ability

He'll be right, only very mild. He was adamant that he was still okay to play out the game and apparently became quite aggressive when they wouldn't let him back on but that weren't gonna take any chances given he has a history of concussions

I'm no expert, but I would have thought this kind of reaction was indicative of a more significant impact on him than a very mild concussion.

Yeah you might be right, I spoke to him twice on the phone yesterday and something wasn't quite right, he seemed kinda out of it.

Great the club looks after him.  Hope he recovers soon, and can put together some strong games and push into the firsts late this season or early next.

Possession's may point to but don't necessarily equate to a good game particularly when transitioning up to AFL level football.

Better than not getting the pill and he has been named in the best each week. Plapp has been full of praise. Not sure if he still has it but would like to find out. One of the better ball users and brings experience and leadership.

I have always been a big JT fan, and would love to see him play seniors again.  Based on today, it would be a sympathy selection more than anything.  Only my view though and that's based on it being the first game of Casey that I have ever seen live, so grain of salt stuff!

Sam Mitchell also wasn't 'damaging' but was the cornerstone of the hawthorn side.

There is a massive gulf between Mitchell and Trengove at the same stage of their careers.  Not necessarily through Jack's fault - injury crippled him for 2 years.

The issue for Jack is that the style of play that our coach wants us to play is something that will highlight Jack's weaknesses.  Compare that to Hawthorn's possession-based, keepings off-style of play, which is Mitchell's great strength, and more than covers his shortcomings (which are, well, being short, as well as not quick).

It displays a lack of footy IQ if you try and compare the two.

Goody was quoted as saying Jack knows exactly what he needs to do to get selected. He is working on it and he is close. "There will be no-one happier than me when Jack runs out again" he said.

He would need to do a Tonya Harding on a few of our big bodied inside mids for him to get selected.

Can't see Trenners playing seniors unless we get a heap of injuries to those mids.  He is behind a lot of players.

so what you are saying is that Mitchell could have only made it on possession style, keepings off style sides??? 

That shows a real lack of football IQ if you believe that.

CATS STRIKE  by Ice Station

The Casey Demons were literally blown off the park in the space of a few minutes on either side of the half time break against Geelong VFL at Simonds Stadium on Saturday afternoon and ultimately lost the game by six goals.

The Demons were opposed to a stronger, taller and far more experienced Cats outfit and were always going to be up against it, especially after they lost back up ruckman Declan Keilty who was concussed  in the very early stages of the game. 

This left youngster Mitch King, in only his second game back after a knee reconstruction and a further injury which cut deeply into his pre season as the team's only true big man on the ground following the club's rash of injuries. King battled manfully but had to cope with a number of talls in the home team's lineup which included the seasoned Rhys Stanley who also drifted forward to boot three goals for the game.

Casey was restricted to just 11 AFL listers including rookies and had a bevy of VFL youngsters in the team. The game also marked the debuts of Frankston Dolphins player Nathan Gardiner and 27 year old on baller Sean Dwyer from Lang Lang. 

Casey was more than competitive in a four low-scoring struggle despite the Geelong's edge in experience in the first half and led by 8 points late in the second term. The Cats struck them a major blow with two goals in the the last two minutes including one on the siren and then opened the second half strongly booting three unanswered goals in the first 10 minutes to skip away to a 20 point lead.

The teams went goal for goal to three quarter time. Casey vice-captain Angus Scott was the saviour again with a couple of goals as the depleted Demon forward line struggled to impact the scoreboard. Scott was his team's only goal scorer in the final term as a stronger and faster Geelong raced away to a six goal victory. 

The visitors were once again well served by Jack Trengove (27 touches) who was particularly instrumental in his team's strong showing early in the game. Defender Josh Wagner who has had an injury riddled past couple of months returned in good form in defence and Dean Kent had a much better game this week. 

Experienced Casey listed players Mitch Gent, James Munro lent valuable support to team leaders Jack Hutchins and the goalkicker in Scott but overall the home side was too good finishing with 10 goals to Casey’s four in the second half.

Although the team is only outside the top eight on percentage, it will struggle to keep in touch as long as Melbourne's injury woes continue. This week's opposition Werribee also has just one win to its credit but poses another tough assignment at Hoppers Crossing on Sunday.

That's not what I am saying at all.

You lost me when you tried to use a different player from a different team as evidence that Trengove can still provide something to us.  It's an irrelevant comparison.  You further lost me when you said Mitchell isn't "damaging" - he won a Brownlow FFS!
