Will Roos coach again?

I don't like players letting out their love or dislike for a coach. He is the coach period. 

I would suggest that a forward would enjoy the more attacking focus of Goodwin than defense first mentality of Roos. I understand why we needed such a focus on defense as we were bleeding goals prior to Roos but it does appear that Goodwin does allow a little more free flowing footy.

I agree 'nutbean'.  IMO it is easy for Goodwin to allow a more free flowing footy because Roos drilled the team in 'defence first' and 'contested play' in his first 2 years.  In his third year Roos was all about 'attacking' football which all young players like and Goodwin also favoured.  Without Roos' first two years Goodwin would have no chance for the attacking game plan he now has.

Any player not at the club prior to 2014 just wouldn't get what Roos really achieved and why he coached as he did.  He played 'bad cop' allowing Goodwin to play 'good cop'.  So if players had their nose out of joint by Roos so be it - as you say nutbean:  He is the coach, period! 

I so dislike 'purple' - he is always trying to stir the pot when it comes to the Demons using mere innuendo to create a 'story'.  And his comments are stupid - everyone knew Roos was going at the end of 2016 so why would anyone whinge about 'if Roos had stayed'.  It wasn't an option so I don't know what 'purple' is rabbiting on about!

The difference is being overstated a bit though. Goodwin is working with a list that is far less error prone than even the one last year, that affords the luxury to play more free-flowing. More errors and the players go back into their shell and don't take risks. I think Roos would be coaching in an extremely similar manner this year. They even tried the 8 man backline running through the centre last year.

It's irrelevant if the players liked Roos or not, Roos wasn't at Melbourne for a long time, he was at Melbourne to fix a broken club.

He did that, and it took a whole lot of hard truth to get to where we are now. I'm sure lots of players weren't happy to be moved along, or told they weren't working hard enough. Goodwin has the pleasure of taking over from Roos, who laid the foundation and did the really tough work that only someone extremely tough and extremely experienced can do, without breaking the playing team apart. 

We should be forever greatful for the work Roos did, in setting a foundation for our club and rebuilding not just our list, but the entire level of professionalism of the playing list.

I'm calling BS on the Hogan decision having any relation whatsoever to Paul Roos. Everyone knew exactly how long Roos would be at the club. Why would Jesse ever even bring it up as a factor in re-signing?

I thank Roos. He did a job. A long overdue job.

Game day ..meh.   But i dont know what HIS plan was so as far as i was frustrated maybe a bigger plan in play.

I like Goody's game. I wonder about his style re personal interaction but at the end of the day (sic) we needed moulding. Report's suggest players in the main respond positively.

What Paul does now is Pauls business. Good luck and good cheer.

The jungle drums last season linked Roos to the Pies. But I don't really know if Roos will coach again. But money talks..

My guess, is that a coach like Ross Lyon would take on another job. Ie. Suns or Pies. I think he'd take on Pies. 

Only because the rebuild at Fremantle IMO will require a lot of energy, and Eddie needs to find someone to replace his 'apparent' blunder and boot him out of bed if things go pear shaped in season 2017, which they could well do over the next 3-4 weeks starting with Sydney this week. (0-3?)

 

PS. And given Ross dealt directly with the Freo board - unbeknown to Craig Kelly - I dare say Eddie would have no hesitation in ringing his mate Kelly on the quiet.

I doubt Roos wants to coach again. There's probably only Collingwood, And Gold Coast looking for a new coach for next season
