The thread title implies some degree of competitiveness between Gawn and Kruezer, but they are in two different  leagues. Gawn vs Kruezer is like:

  • Winx vs Prized Icon
  • Real Madrid vs Perth Glory
  • Ali v Bugner
  • Spurs v Melburne United
  • Bolt vs anyone
  • Dees vs Bliues

You get the idea.

So now you know what is MFCSS ... but how does it work?

Example. We could be leading at half time by 15 goals to 1.

After half time ... if Carlton get the first inside 50 ... cue the comments:

Here we go! Carlton by 187!

Jesse Hogan is not up to AFL standard!

I knew this would happen! Why does this always happen to us?

I have always known Mitch Hannan was hopeless. I have been saying this since 1975.

We should never again pick Nathan Jones. Never!!!!!

Goodwin has no plan B. Sack him before the 3/4 time break!

I blame Cameron Schwab, Gabriel Szondy, Joe Gutnick, Paul McNamee, Adrian Anderson and Dennis Jones!

That's MFCSS.

(Trace elements were detectable in the first quarter against St K)

And with 10 minutes to go against the Saints when they got within 5 goals.

Kreuzer and Cripps are the 2 Carlton players that worry me the most. In the JLT Cup, Kreuzer was basically jumping into Gawn at the centre bounces, and Max went down a couple of times. Gawn won't dominate Kreuzer like he did Hickey. And Kreuzer is 10 times the player Hickey is around the ground.

Fair points but ...

1. Everything IS Jacks Watts' fault. Just ask any supporter of any other club. He transcends MFCSS.

2. "OMG" is the correct reaction upon hearing or seeing the words "Mark Neeld" in any context. MFCSS notwithstanding.

If the turnaround really bears fruit, we will also have to say 'PBUH' after every mention of Paul Roos.

Later on we can all argue about whether it was Goodwin or McCartney who should be considered the true successor.

Pathetic thread.

People talking as if we've won 3 flags in a row and are untouchable. I was as impressed as anyone by our win on the weekend but we've accomplished absolutely nothing - won a round one game! Still haven't played finals in a decade. Still haven't won a flag in over 50 years. 3 games ago the team that everyone's mocking beat us comfortably. 2 games ago we were beaten by 20 goals. Enjoy our ride up the ladder but have a little humility. Pride comes before a fall.

Hickey has historically jumped into Gawn too, but we managed to navigate that last week and I think we'll have a plan to deal with Kreuzer doing this too.

I do think Gawn will 'beat' Kruezer position for position, but we would be foolish to underestimate the potential for Kruezer to in turn bob up at the right (wrong) moments and cost us the game if we let it be close enough for that to happen.

He may look like someone glued a dying salmon onto the neck of a baby giraffe, but Kreuzer can be dangerous.

Which is kind of the mantra for understanding Carlton overall - awkward pieces stuck and stapled together, but a lot of those awkward pieces can do damage if they are allowed to, and the only way to be sure of beating them is sheer weight sustained competent effort. In other words, no "5 goals in 15 minutes" lapses.

Kruezer in one of those players, like Murphy, Cripps, even (shocking I know) Casboult, who can turn it on in a burst and be the catalyst for one of our traditional five goal failures.

And you can bet the Blues will be fancying their chances this week too.  We haven't proven anything yet,  and this is the exact kind of game we always lose, and it always seems to be vs the Blues or Bombers.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
