Here's one ...Trump's core support whilst not overly huge is as strong as I've seen.  Where as the support for the Democrats & Hillary before the election was more a 'default' support.   It lacked real passion.

Fast forward to now and it's about governing and whether Trump can do it and whether he's allowed to do what he wants.

"Trump is unhinged" ( Fake News reporter Jake Trapper CNN) . Has there ever been a President where so many are questioning his mental stability and his fitness to serve as President ?

I can categorically state that there have been Prime Ministers of this country who I have not agreed with any of the policies they espoused  - but even in their worst moments I have never thought we have had a Prime Minister who is unfit to serve.

I've got a message to all the anti-Trump brigade. 

You can dress up in huge plastic vaginas if you want to,

you can get Ben Affleck,Susan Sarandon,Rosie O'Donnell and any other actor you like to give their opinion,

you can write articles on what you think is going on in the inner sanctum at the white house,

you can speculate on the mental stability of the commander in chief,

you can write songs, join marches, wave flags, raise awareness, sign petitions, burn college campuses ,jump up and down and yell and scream like little kids that didn't get a lollibag at the party if you like.

I find it entertaining but it will not change a thing.

Best part is there is 4-8 years left so I hope you can maintain the rage.

He has kicked so many in the nuts on the way through that there is now unprecedented scrutiny both internally and externally on everything he says and does. To remain in power he has to keep his own party backing him and they are running for the hills. He can't separate his personal dealings with the Presidency.  He will be lucky to last 4 years let alone get re-elected. At Ladbrokes he is 10/11 not to last out his first term.

Absolutely no fan of Rudd and egomaniac ? yes .. Bully ? yes. But he is not even close to being in the same league.

It's worth noting that 40 of Nixon's aides were indicted or went to jail. 

That might explain the disconnect that we're starting to see.

Macca I know I said Trump could be a train wreck in a thread on here that has been deleted by a mod who is notorious for deleting centre right posts. I can't check to see what I said exactly because it has been deleted. Demonland mods have a difficult task. Unfortunately in a litigious society, country and world people and organisations need to protect themselves and deletion of free speech is understandable.

sorry earl, brain fade, but i did notice in the "real facts" press today that polar bear figures are up about 25%. i wonder if that means agw has turned the corner and already peaked (just like peak oil)?  luckily it was renamed global climate change so all is sweet, huh

Daisy it is climate change the anti-science. Every scientific theory needs to be able to be falsified. Not climate change.

Global temperatures plateauing, too hot, too cold, drought, flood, rain, too much heat locally, cyclones, no cyclones, polar bears dying, polar bears thriving. It doesn't matter it is all evidence of climate change. 

Someone tell me what is evidence of climate change being a farce? If there can be not evidence there is no theory.

This isn't some statement about media bias or conflicted interests. He actually said that the press is the enemy of the American People. An AMERICAN PRESIDENT said this. This is surely indefensible, although I am looking forward to some of the conservative mental acrobats here try to excuse or contort Trump's statement.

'Alternative Facts' by Conway was disturbing enough, but this is.. I don't know what this is. Just plain wrong I guess. Even a Fox News anchor has taken up the issue.

 

Combine this with the ongoing investigation over the Russian links and I'd say that the word "impeach" is likely to be bandied about a lot in Republican circles today. If the FBI proves Trump knew about the conversations his people were having, then I think it'll be enough to cross that impeachment line.

I stand by my comment that he won't be in power by the end of the year. The Russian thing or something else will force the Republicans' hand. They will prefer Pence to Trump, who they only stuck with because he was their only chance of winning the election.

Just having a bit of fun Wrecker ... none of us should ever be locked into a way of thinking because events happen and things change to a point where our minds are made up for us.  We buy-in and buy-out in sport all the time and politics is no different.

The dilemma for the Republicans is would they be better off without Trump?  Their policies are represented by Trump (by and large) and I don't necessarily see another Republican president being much different in terms of policy except ... in style,  delivery,  bluntness, charisma,  political correctness & the ability to appeal to the other side of politics (and his own side)  A mixed bag of course but the last factor is very important in terms being able to govern unimpeded.

My qualm is fitness for office. If you look at the voting record of Pence he is harder right than Trump and although I disagree on most of Pence's stances he would not be unfit to be President.

Choke - shutting down or having a state run media is what dictators do. I challenge you to find any evidence Trump is doing that. I'll give you a tip, the people trying to shut down Milo, more likely fit into this category. 

Skipping a biased media through social media and declaring war on media not reporting accurately is not a Dictatorship. It is actually clever. Perhaps progressive?

Trump may or may not be flying after his first month. Running a Dictatorship he is not.

1 - I did not say he was a dictator. That quote is from Republican Senator John McCain, who also said Trump is not a dictator, but said that denouncing the press as an enemy of the people is what dictators do.

2 - Trump's tweet did not say the media is biased (although he has said that in the past, and his point there is valid). This time, he said it is the enemy of the people. This is much more dangerous than calling out media bias.

 

Don't put words in my mouth. I said it was 'just plain wrong', and more disturbing than Kellyanne Conway talking about 'Alternative Facts' in the wake of simply making up a terrorist attack. Get my information directly from the White House? I think not.

McCain has it wrong and is bitter. Shutting down the press is what Dictators do.

Denouncing the press is clearly inline with freedom of speech. 

I've never called any of Trump's tweets clever. However, tweeting to a large audience, in general, as a tactic when he is misrepresented so often is clever.
