Mate why even put up anything that  has Red background. You know that  it has to be a white back ground.

But it doesnt have to.

Red doesnt clash with port or carlton ffs

But the AFL say it has to be a white background.

Get it?

Apparently many think they know more about this than Jennifer Watt - General Manager Marketing and Communications

Who recently won the Graeme Samuel Scholarship: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-08-05/jennifer-watt-wins-graeme-samuel-scholarship

And who has been specifically seconded by the AFL to re-invent Etihad as fan friendly: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/afl-trying-to-reinvent-etihad-stadium-as-a-fanfriendly-venue-20161028-gsdaeh.html

We Demonlanders are a masochistic bunch, aren't we?  Keep banging our heads against a brick wall and wailing against this same injustice every year!  Do we really think anyone in power actually gives a rats about what we think...??

They should listen as we are the ones who buy merchandise and also keep the club afloat!

here are some alternatives i have saved over the years from places like here and big footy.

no reason we couldnt be in any of these - or even have 3 (blue/red/white)

i feel sick

this has actually turned me off the AFL in a big way

ffs

158 years and we have to wear THAT next year? jfc

If these were our clash Guernsey's I'd be fairly happy with that. I'd probably remove the little emblem on the original but other than that I can't see much better of an outcome than what you've put together here.

Can we honestly put this forward along with a signed petition? Would anyone else be keen to try do that?

But the dogs essendon roos and crows amongst others wear alternate that isnt white.

Making us wear white when not necessary is illogical and stupid.

This is the AFL it does not have to be logical.

Horrible. Thought the logo would grow on me, it hasn't. Looks even more [censored] on that jumper. Melbourne Acorns or Bellends it is.

I do not understand why we dont just have an inverted clash strip, predominantly red with the blue V?

I do not hate the new one but I do not love it either, was the same feeling with all out clash jumpers.

You mean like the one Richmond were allowed to wear in 2016?

No poxy white on this.

Has anyone called the club about this? forget destination club, no one would want to play in that thing

I'd be happier with the below version and only in games where there is a genuine clash (not just every away game).

And yes I'd be happy to sign a petition for almost any variation that didn't include ghastly white domince.  I hate the white with a passion and there are few things more sacred to a footy club than it's colours.  I feel violated every time I see us in a poxy white piece of crap jumper.

The Brisbane Lion supporters lobbied hard and won their battle against the Paddle Pop Lion jumper - time Demons fans took up arms to fight for our own jumper.  The AFL has clearly set numerous precedents allowing other clubs away jumpers much closer to their regular home and away jumper, so the MFC should have reasonable grounds, particularly as we are the oldest club in the comp.

Is there someone here on Demonland that can set-up such a petition?

the inverse ones from a thread a few years ago were great. Red with blue.

Spot on and the answer is No.

will we all return our memberships? No

will we stop going to games? No

Will we do anything that effects the MFC? No

AFL you win.

How would returning memberships or stop going to games help the situation other than hurting the MFC.

There are better ways to push this with the AFL than the above - how about burning a white crap jumper on the doorstep of AFL house, or something along those lines that expresses our extreme dissatisfaction with the situation without hurting the MFC?

A jumper is jumper it doesn't matter what the changes are, thank goodness it is not a gold power ranger look.

If this is the new clash jumper its a shocker. By why should we be surprised.

Business and the market place prevails. The trump stone.

Merchandising and branding wins every time over good design and good taste.

I have to say that I have disliked the new logo from day one. Okay as a logo on a mug, glass or coffee cup but no much else.

Yes Ernest, agree, the new logo reminds me of the old Warner Brothers emblem that they used to show prior to countless old TV series. Don't like it, yes on club coffee mug but certainly not on a pure white shirt.

One thing i really wish they'd bring in is the names on the jumper mini me ( my son ) is always having to look in the book to work out who players are by their number.

the clash jumper is close to the worst i've seen and a 16 year old in an arts class could design better in my opinion, some of the suggestions on here are much better.

Phew!  So, it's not just me?!!  Thanks, Daisy!  When I see it, I see squirrels!

I liked the old logo too, but c'est la vie ... As for the clash jumper, I prefer last year's, and hate the white in any of them. Logically there is no reason why we can't have a blue vee on an otherwise red jumper (see Essendon "clash strip", and the Bulldogs have a red variety), but expecting sense, consistency and reason from the AFL is a pipe dream ...

I know I'm getting old, but reading this thread is giving me flashbacks to this time 12 months ago, and the year before. and ........................

I emailed the club to tell them it's horrific and they're better off keeping this year's. They replied with a copy-paste response saying white clash guernseys are necessary and there are ongoing discussions about them with the AFL. Actually annoyed me more than if they didn't respond at all. Just condescending.

Think most people were pretty comfortable with this year's. Especially the red one that never got rolled out.

I notice that the Demon Shop link is now inactive.
Regardless I've written to the club this evening outlining my displeasure with the new uniform. I said that t
he club only needs to look at social media posts and club forums to gauge instant feedback.  I've pointed them to Demonland's poll whereby nearly 80 per cent of respondents claim to 'hate it'.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front. They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
