Yes.  When I  said watches,  I really meant those gizmos but my concern re finger injuries when and if they wear them in contact sessions stands.

I always wear mine, I don't even take it off when I wrestle, no snapped fingers to date.

Maybe Kent's considered a fourth year player (has played 4 years since 2013) and was subsequently required to be there.

And maybe Oliver and Weideman are still considered first year players.

Yeah not sure how it works, Viney's the only other still on the list who we drafted (BenKen and Sam Frost have since come in) and they were all there so you might be right.

Was told at the start by one of the staff it was going to be players from 1st year to going into 5th year, minus those guys in that group who played most of the finals for Casey, plus Hibberd and Melksham, plus "one or two others", Nev Jetta was there because he wanted to be and same with Tommy Mc (disguised as Dante Exum)

I think I counted 22, plus ANB, White, Smith, Weideman, Hulett, Oliver, Salem, Trengove? which makes 30 (not sure when they will return), then Jones, Watts, Vince, Garland, Lumumba, Tyson, Garlett, Spencer, Pedersen, Gawn, Lewis who I assume will start on 21st

That's a bit harsh, I unfortunately discovered both the variety of brioche at Aldi and the relaunch of McCrackens Pale ale at the same time

Back to the gizmos, I'll either ask or watch where and when they wear them, I agree would hate to see a finger attached to one during a training session

Part of the day job Ethan?  None of your fingers snapped you mean unlike the people you wrestle. Mind you, broken fingers is probably the least of their worries. I'm heading over your way at Christmas I'll keep an eye out for fitbit wearing wrestlers with opponents with broken fingers.

Greco-Roman, I got into it after watching Foxcatcher. Someone told me I look a bit like Channing Tatum, or maybe it was Jonah Hill, who was in 21 Jump Street with Channing Tatum. I did have some good wrestles in my old job, it's just not the same though without the spandex.

Is it possible to quarantine the pointless and worthless personal chit-chat between posters from the real news about our players and their progress over the pre-season? Like many other readers I highly value the training observations but don't want to have to scroll through multiple pages of nonsense to find the information I want. Perhaps a "mirror" topic where the observations can also be posted for their juvenile fun without sullying the main topic with the important information? This issue will only get worse throughout the pre-season when these reports are the only football news that sustains us. The players, coaches and committed posters deserve to be treated with more respect than is shown currently.

Actually, the answer is yes and no. A number of posts on this thread have been deleted by the moderators mainly because they are either offensive, off topic or attempts to derail the thread. A couple of posters have received warnings. There will be bans of at least one month placed automatically on repeat offenders.

That said, we can live with some lighthearted banter from time to time as long as it's in good spirit.

Could not agree more with your comments WJ especially the last line.

Just an observation:  many seem to be wearing watches.  Do / should they remove them when doing any sort of tackling drills at all?  Could do a serious finger injury to the tackler.

Do you remember the tie front vests worn by some teams/players a few years ago? I'm pretty sure a couple of opposition players received finger injuries in matches against them.

However I reckon the "watches" come off when intense man on man training starts.

Olympians never had the benefit of spandex pants or fitbits.

Ive always liked mud wrestling and it could be something for Goodwin to explore..

Jelly wrestling is a waste of food and the food colouring may not pass asada regs.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
