why do i get this image of herman goerring when i picture you in a deerstalker, uncle

I'd prefer Alfred Hitchcock dc! Do you remember that old show ( Alfred Hitchcock theatre?) when the great man walked into the  drawn profile?

I wish the club would issue a deerstalker.

Imagine the potential advertising on the flaps.

Why don't they bring back the red and blue striped version of the Australian baggy green cricket cap that was around in the 80's?

or maybe that's where it should stay...

And please IT if you do win one - and I hope you do- please, please wear it the right way round (you know, with the peak facing the front)!

Ha, I'm getting too old to wear it back to front.

I go to most Swans games and seeing a sea of red and white caps is fantastic. You don't see that with scarves. Come on PJ make an executive decision.

Swans members get a new cap with their pack each year?

Has anyone used their membership to try and get an upgrade on China Southern?

I'm flying home from China today and want to try.

Got an email from the Club today that if you renew today you could be one of ten to get an MFC cap.

So I've renewed. Thought I should put it up here in case anyone else wants to go for a cap as well.

Personally I'd prefer a cap to a scarf. I have masses of them. I have raised this with the Club for years but they won't change. I don't know why they don't change it up a bit every few years. The Swans do caps instead of scarves.

You can opt for a demo shop voucher rather than a scarf on your renewal letter

Yep.

That's impressive!

I see we slug our members a minimum of $40 (discount excluded) for the basic cap and up $60 for a new era!! Scarves won't bring that sought of revenue and unfortunately I think that is the strategy.

Caps are a much much better alternative as you can wear them at anytime whereas a scarf, particularly here in Perth, there might be two occasions in the whole year.

Worth pursuing I think.

How much is the voucher for?  From memory it's about $15 which doesn't do much for you as the caps are around $25 -30. I live in Sydney so from memory it doesn't even cover postage. Not really an option unless I go to Melbourne and have to take up time going to the Demon shop.

Would be a lot easier for them to just mix it up every few years. Ive got shelves of bloody scarves.

I'm in Sydney so have the same issue. I'm sure a mass purchase of caps probably wouldn't be that much more expensive than scarves. Members caps are $30 on the website and the only pure wool scarves I could find are $65. So I'm assuming the synthetic ones we get are probably about the same as a cap.

I raised this with the Club a few years ago and they said the feedback was Members preferred scarves. I find that hard to believe.

Don't like the scarf idea at all.  How many scarves can you have/need.  Turn up to the footy with 2014 on your scarf and people think you are either a cheapskate, didn't renew your membership or you're not a true supporter.  The only scarf idea I liked was Hawthorn putting years of membership on their scarves.  I like the idea of 50 being on mine.

But really, scarves have been done to death at the MFC and to me it's just lazy marketing.  Anything but a scarf please.

There in lies the reason to me. In Sydney the weather is warmer, as it is in Perth so you don't have to wear scarves. In Melbourne the scarf is part of the institution that is the AFL, mainly due to the fact it is cold and you wear them for much of the season.

I do understand your point with the hats, but I don't wear hats unless it is very cold and then it is a beenie. I would much prefer the scarf, the best thing they could do is mix up the design from year to year a bit more.

Congrats hellfish.

So innocent at that age then they grow up!!!

I have started Airbnb (100 metres from the "G")! I give all my overseas guests a Melbourne scarf. They love it (and it cleans out the drawers)!

Just to let you all know, I've officially refunded my Geelong membership and have order my Melbourne membership ? Carn the Dee's!

Any reason why you are disgusted with The Cattery?

I'm not. I will still always enjoy my beloved Cats. But after watching many Dee's games, and the majority of Casey games this year, I know a lot more about this club and its players than I do of Geelong.
Oh and when your best mate and brother gets drafted to them, it's hard not to change your allegiance ^_^

IWS we have covered this before, they keep asking the supporters, and those that bother to answer in surveys say scarf, a lot of the femaie support don't want a cap either, they don't wear them.

Here is an interesting exercise for you, stand outside of a membership tent before one of the first home games and watch the reaction if they have underestimated the demand for supporters picking up their scarf

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
