I occasionally open this thread to read a "trade whisper".

You get anything but.

And yes, I've just added to the "but".

I like big butts

The female kind, not, I suspect, hairy and incontinent.

another thing is because of the way the Hogan situation sits and the raft of young players we have we can't afford to make huge offers to outside stars unless they fit perfectly.

if Jesse leaves it would be awful for the club, but the picks we got, say pick 3 and another first rounder we could offer up and try and bring in someone like Tom Mitchell and go to the draft and add another young player.

I've forgotten, what did we pay for the right to draft Jesse?

As some have asked: Will H-E or Won't H-E?

(boom Tish, was time for a dad joke)

The saddest thing is that this post actually raises the quality of this thread!

Sigh!

What is the trade value of Big Butts and what's their best position?

I know my post about Brayshaw will have upset a few people and they're less likely to trust this but i'll pass it on anyway. I've heard that we're having a look at Tom Lamb and might consider him as a de-listed free agent or pick him up in a trade for a late pick if he doesn't find a new home elsewhere.

Interesting.

Attitude is a concern apparently.

Yes because your suggestion of brayshaw for riewoldt was absolute lunacy.

Happy with this if true.

As DD says, attitude is a concern, but the kid has serious talent.  A genuine swing man who can play forward, mid & down back.

If we recruit Lamb & Josh Watts, we could have a couple of potential strong utilities that would add a different dimension to the team.

Let Macca go to work on Lamb and we could have a real steal here.

His old man apparently played a couple of games back in 93' for us also.  Would be nice to have our 5th Father/Son (Viney, Stretch, Smith, Maynard & Lamb).

Did you get the 'news' about Lamb from  BigFooty?

Mmmmm  remember to take camera and oil if we sign him   so I take it it was Big Footy   saw it on there as well   seems to have stagnated over west  but has some serious competition for a forward spot   and McGovern and Barass have him covered down back

Believe what you like mate, i'm sure he is going to love you oiling up his guns.

Of all the names being thrown up on here Lamb seems to be the most interesting, probably hard when you are over in the west and from Victoria to stay interested when the only game you get rewarded with is in the WAFL. Maybe the change and Macca could be the answer, bur we have had a couple of hiccups in the shape of Newton and Kennedy, so club may be wary, though Kennedy showed bits and Newton missed the whole of preseason

I'll admit i played Junior football with Tom and attitude is an issue, he's a cocky guy who hasn't appreciated just how hard you have to work, thought it would just happen for him and he doesn't need help. I believe he has the ability to make it at AFL level, but will need a strong club with strong leadership to do so.

He is still on their list,  so there will be a cost.

Nominates Essendon (rumoured). Also:

Port Adelaide, Richmond, Collingwood and Carlton are four clubs who are very interested in the services of Darling but there is believed to be a number of other Victorian clubs who are circling the gun forward.

Hope this doesn't put a spanner in the other rumour we have just heard.

I wouldn't think so. Talk is the can't fit him in the cap, and Darling leaving surely wouldn't free up enough cash

If this rumour turns out to be true, and I'm skeptical about it at the moment, it seems to be an odd move from an Eagles perspective.  He might have had an inconsistent season, but Kennedy is approaching 30 and they don't have a great deal else in terms of key forwards coming through the ranks.

Obviously this rumour would also make some Dees fans nervous, as the Eagles being willing to entertain trade offers for Darling might suggest they believe they are in the box seat to lure Hogan west.

They may be looking to beat Freo to the punch with Cam McCarthy?

Rory Lobb is getting talked about a lot.

Aaron Black from North on the move?

Mason Shaw had a good year in the WAFL,

There could be a few other options that they may also be looking at and after Darling's last two finals, I'm not surprised they're looking to move him on.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
