Tom Rockliff

Rocky is back at Vulture Street at least for the next twelve months but in 12 months' time he will be on the list of 2017 Brisbane Lions free agents:

"Brisbane
Claye Beams
Ryan Harwood
Tom Rockliff"

I wouldn't go for him next year as we'll be laden with all of his wage. This year we might have landed a bargin with the Lions paying a good portion of his contract. That won't happen next year.

I just hope we got in Josh Kelly and Andrew Gaff's ears this off season and offered them between $450-500k. They are the cream that will make us all that more dangerous.

I'm not sure that we have a great willingness to devote a bunch of salary cap space to a single player. Those 2 will likely cost more than that. Especially Kelly.

I wonder if we are just sitting tight and waiting for our young players to mature rather than make these huge plays.

We don't want to lose a Petracca Hunt Oliver or Hogan or two in a couple if years because we sold the farm to get superstar A.

Our lack of involvement in these super trades is deliberate now.

I agree, but 450k is also a drop in the ocean if we can convince one of them.

We were never interested. Full stop.

do not agree.

Well a current listed player had heard otherwise

I believe you.

Tom Rockliff is a free agent as of the end of next year (2017)........... perhaps a realisation we didn't have the currency this year may not preclude an interest that we could look to fulfill next year.

Thats right, & the AFL & Fagan may want to see his boys in action, before he makes a decision on Rocky, just as Roosy was cautious about delisting all he thought of in his first pre-season with us.

Mahoney on Trade Radio: "We never spoke to Rockliff".

The end.

Doing the clubs bidding for it stu,  R U on the clubs footy deept salary cap then?

De Beginning!

Maybe we Mfc only spoke  to rocky's management & not to rocky directly?  Or maybe we lied?  Maybe we blur the edges of words & truths.

Maybe we didn't want to pay the Lions price?

    THE CAVALRY ARRIVES by Megg

The injury plague which has beset the Demons 2024 campaign is finally starting to dissipate and with consecutive wins over GWS Giants and a 2-point nail-biter in Adelade, a sense of optimism is rising.  Some commentators are now asking whether the Dees can make finals? A huge surprise with team selection this week when it was announced that champs Olivia Purcell, Paxy Paxman and Eden Zanker would play.   Hallelujah!  The cavalry has arrived. St Kilda missed the finals last season on pe

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.
