  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

No frigging idea what you're talking about or what it had to do with 2006.

Don't reply though.  It's a bore.

OK, I get it, you're just wanting to draw attention to yourself, not discuss the issue.

Carry on.

Hawthorn Port and Richmond game we were practically ahead the whole game so I am not sure what leadership needed to do to turn the tide. Against Gold Coast Jack Watts stood up and won the game for us.

And all 3 of those sides put the heat on us and challanged us during the game. All of our leaders in Viney Jones Gawn and McDonald played a big part in steering the ship back on track.

You could also throw in the GWS game where we were 20 odd points down in the last and Gawn Jones and Viney got us back on top to win the game through the middle.

Your quick to lay the boot into Nathan Jones and our leadership group but never hear a hint of appreciation when they win us big games against the GWS Hawthorns and Collingwoods.

I literally didn't understand your post.

If it was relevant or coherent it escaped me.

Maybe read it again, consider why you particularly responded to me and reword it.

Attitude...Which has been a problem in the shadows of the club for Decades.

Roosy has done a magnificent job. I only wish we had him another 2 years. Goodwin better be one mentally strong guy

So this is a decades old attitude problem and not a lack of onfield leadership in what is a terribly young group ?

I thought it might have been that we only had 4 x 100 game players, including a 23 year old in McDonald.

Instead I should have realised they were channeling 50 years of mediocrity.

Surely by now you realise the futility in this type of engagement.

Yes.

I have a bit more time on my hands for the next couple of weeks, hence being more active than usual.

But I'm fully cognisant that not one word I say will resonate with the hand-wringers.

It's a combination of both PD. You know i have been talking about Leadership all year

But i am also convinced psychology plays a part as well. This club has been kicked so many times since Norm left, repeatedly.

If we had lost a nail biting shootout against Carlscum i can deal with that.

But we didn't turn up...

More time than usual? That can't be a good thing for Demonland, Ben.

Potentially, yes. But I find nothing wakes me up in the morning better than a dose of sheer arrogance.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
