Freo are going to have to cough up plenty for the kid from GWS , have Fyffe on plenty  and whilst I realise Pavlich is done , $1.3 +p.a  is putting an  awful lot of eggs in one basket on the edge  of pretty much a total rebuild which clearly faces Jesse  Doesn't seem to make a lot of sense for either Freo or Hogan.  Weagles have Kennedy and Darling and cant see how that would work either.

Hawks no go, ( no cap) ditto Swans and Geelong, Adelaide ok for key forwards. Bulldogs after Cloke, ( doubt if they would have cap room). GWS ok for forwards. Saints ok for forwards which essentially  leaves Port, Collingwood or ourselves for a finals run, maybe  Carlton but that's a longshot.

If it was me with our young list its a no brainer,  for some reason though I sense Collingwood although they have Moore and nothing much to offer with Port the dark hose.

Hope he sticks would just seem the most sensible and best option for him.

Good summation. If he was to leave I had it too in that order, Freo, Collingwood and Port as suitors.  Would not be surprised if the Pies are looking for an instant replacement for Cloke.

Can't speak for others but I'd prefer to see this resolved in the trade period because history is completely against us if he isn't signed up by R1 2017. Freo also have excellent currency this year with the prospect of pick 3 and their 1st next year (Which would be top 10 again IMO). The club will no doubt be enquiring in the next few weeks but they need at the least an unofficial 'yes' to him staying before he signs a contract, otherwise he goes at the end of 2017 and that is 12 months wasted where we could have developed someone else and planned for life without him.

Didn't freo trade there first pick last year for Bennell? They couldn't trade this years and next years first picks for hogan due to the fact you have to use a first round pick in a 3 year cycle. So Fyfe and pick 3 for hogan.  Or pick 3 Sheridan and tucker

Correct. Fyfe and 3 for Hogan is ridiculous, Freo aren't stupid. Fyfe in a straight swap would be fair, we'd probably have to throw a pick in with Hogan as well.

I know when I was his age and breaking up with my girlfriend my body language was pretty average too, and I would seek refuge at my family home , grandparents farm etc... all of which are unavailable to Jesse.

He may stay, he may go, but irrespective he's deserving of our compassion and patience given the challenges he faces.

Seriously, what you said applies to most footballers. How they handle it helps sort out the real champions from the  wannabee's and shouldabeen's. He is far too gifted and talented for patience and compassion. And his average body language has been around since last season.

I've heard it all now. So I'm expecting to see in the team selections on Thursday night Out: Hogan (Broken Heart).

Football clubs have all the support mechanisms to assist a player in this situation. Most footballers would seek solace by playing football or being around their football mates.

Hogan and the club don't know how much can be offered until the numbers are in.

And the kid has probably gone on holidays now, so don't expect anything until he gets back.

FWIW (probably not very much), Brad Hardie is still claiming Jesse is going back to Perth at the end of next year.

I've always got the impression Jesse is both an emotional player (when he's on he's on, when he's off he's off) and not the most mature and experienced of young men, who may find he's not fully in control of his emotional state and it effect on his on field performance. I guess the point being there are other "emotional" reason for his mood other than the widely speculated (on here) view that it's because he wants to leave the MFC..

And I'd love to see "Out: Hogan (Broken Heart)" would be hilarious, and perhaps more honest if it were true.

Hawkins spent his early career in a team that really struggled to get the ball forward effectively. And being a team's lone key target up forward was a huge burden on the underdeveloped kid, especially when their game plan relied so much on having a key target.

Those 13 goals in 2008 (out of a home-away season total of 390 at Geelong) may seem like a bit-part player who is just holding a role barely adequately while the rest of a superstar team carries him, but I'm sure they were really, really important goals.

This is all making me think a little bit more seriously - I wonder what Cameron Mooney is up to these days? As far as learning a role, learning to be team-oriented, developing discipline and maturity over time, and even the difference between 'good' and 'premiership' sides, Mooney could be a real asset given his experience both sides of the transformation of Geelong, he could be a very interesting mentor. 

Certainly Hogan's role in the team at present resembles (late career peak) Mooney's more than Hawkins'.

You need to correct your memory. Hawkins debut was in round 2,  2007 the year they started their AFL domination and won the flag. In round 3 and his second game that year he kicked 4 goals against us in a brutal hiding. That game confirmed the beginning of our painfully long decline and the beginning of Geelong's  rise.
