Changes v Gold Coast

OUT: Harmes (rest) Wagner (rest) Hunt (rest)

IN: Trengove, Oliver, Stretch

Playing 2 inexperienced kids with less than 5 games between them in defence is fraught with danger. Worked against the Tiges but they only have one real threat up forward, the Saints cut them up.

We need a cool head back there, either Trengove, Vince or Jones for mine.

Bring back Oliver and time for Trenners to come back, forget the idea of a stage managed return at the 'G'. We can't afford that rubbish we need our best on the park and he will be invaluable as an on field leader.

I am concerned about Tom Lynch. It seems all the key forwards are giving us tonnes of grief this year, Daniher, Reiewoldt, North's trio were clunking everything, and even Jack Riewoldt was Richmond's best player against us.

I remember in 2010/11, when Frawley was at the peak of his powers and Garland was doing well, we always seemed to keep the big guns quiet. It was usually some little 3rd string, no name, midfielder who would pop up and kick 4 or 5.

I understand we are learning the zone defence, but if Tom Lynch is afforded the same lack of attention Riewoldt got on Saturday, he will tear us a new one.

Get him in.

Should NEVER have been out!!

They will not drop both of Dunny and Salem for next week because then we don't have anyone to kick out accurately.

I don't think anyone heard you the first 7,563 times you said that..

Won't matter who comes in because it's already been scripted:

Suns are decimated by injury and we will win in part because of this and also because this has again become another 'response' game for our club on the back of a quarter in which St Kilda kicked seven goals straight.

We will then lose to the Dogs. You can almost take that to the bank on both counts.

Had we lost to the Saints without having periods that again resembled the 2013 demons, nobody would be going on about it.

I blame coaches for not bringing enough fresh legs in and I also point the finger at consistently underperforming players who are the reason this side is so [censored] up and down..

I have this feeling that, regardless of the Suns game (which I think we are a good chance to win because of their injuries and also total lack of form), we're going to play well against the Dogs.

We usually play them well at the G and I have a suspicion we'll fire up for it because a) we know we beat them here last year (same as we knew we beat GWS, Richmond and Collingwood last year) and b) as some sort of "payback" for being destroyed by them at Etihad the second time.

If I'm right and we play well (win or lose) against the Dogs, I expect to see a shocker against the Lions the week after, though.

Hmm Day and Saad likely to play for GC. Beware a team coached by Eade after a flogging, too. Some people here are pencilling this game in already at our peril I reckon..

After such a poor performance, I'm very confident about next week. Seriously.

By that logic, Suns should be even more confident. lol

Would you drop him then based on this?

No way. My changes would be:

OUT- Harmes, Wagner, Bugg

IN - Oliver, Garland, ANB/Trengove

A lot of people seemingly don't go to, watch or read about games apparently...

Bugg is the hardest player on the list and people want to drop him?? No way!

I don't think we have any capacity for 'new ones' to be torn.

But surely they understand that the risk of leaving Lynch one out is too great and will put McDonald or Dunn on him. Surely...

Or they might try and back their system in again. They seemed to do that against St Kilda.

I hope they back their system, it has worked 4 out of 6 weeks so why wouldnt they? I know we lost to north but i think we all agree they are simply a better side.

Got to get the team right though. We didn't have enough quick or fresh legs to properly implement our system against a fresher, quicker team on a quick track.

Attention Demonlanders : Just noticed we are favourites so everybody put bets on Gold Coast to win if the Dees have got any chance

It hasn't worked each time we've faced a side with a quality key forward (or two). There is space for tweaking the plan I think. Just to be a little more accountable for a spearhead forward like Riewoldt, J Riewoldt or Tom Lynch.

If ANY Melbourne fan is stupid enough to pencil in a win then they clearly haven't been paying attention. We are still at a stage where we will lose games we "should" win.

Be confident in the team, but we are far from the stage of penciling in wins.
