Will this year be Jack Grimes Last?

I reckon teams are waiting for him to come OOC, so they can pick him up for free on a small contract of their choosing.

I watched Gawn against Ben Hudson when Scully was coming back from injury with Casey. Gawn more than held his own and showed at that stage that he could step up to AFL level as a ruckman.

King hasn't done that yet, a big worry beside physical strength is his lack of running ability. In Parkin terms, he has no tank.

I would think Grimes has no currency now, you are over rating him...

While I've been critical of all in the past, we're suddenly in the reasonable position of having Grimes, Garland and Dawes as decent hard-bodied and experienced depth during a transition period of developing young talent. I'm not so sure the footy department would be keen to offload them just yet to free up more speculative spots on the list. If they're looking to find opportunities elsewhere however I imagine they'll be handed over for little more than some goodwill in return.

Having sat close to Tom's kicking blemishes on Sunday night, it's hard to argue they don't happen! I'd hoped I'd conveyed that I was only using the comparison to question the degree of markdown of Jack on here. I did go on to suggest Tom's total package distinguished him from Jack (for example, his night - again - of inspiring intercept marking), as I did with H, for my 'awareness' comparison (H may get caught 'unawares' but it is more likely to happen in a take-the-game-on moment than Jack would have).

I just thought Tmac wasn't the best comparison for Grimes, even given the fact Tmac can still manage to put it out on the full at times. Tmac plays a completely different role. I thought by surrounding him with players like Wagner, Salem and even Jetta there is less of a need for him to be too adventurous with the footy. McDonalds kicking still is a mixed bag but that's not why he's in the side.

I doubt any team has been 'waiting' to sign Grimes, he would be lucky to get a second shot, i hope he does

I meant more that they weren't interested last year when he still had time on his contract. I reckon they'll be more interested now.

To answer the original question " I hope not"

He has always given 100% to the MFC.

Was thrown to the wolves by Neeld and he did his best.

Now his best maybe a little short of what we require but we have had a good run with injuries so far and  who knows what is around the corner.

He may yet figure in senior action before seasons end.

I hope he gets another contract.

It's a little like the Garland contract, when we offered him 3 years did we know/not know how Wagner would come on. I reckon we got Garland pretty cheap.
