Roos said in his Post match media interview that he was "Pleased" with today.

We are DEAD as a club if our coach can be pleased with losing regardless of how close it was.

My GOD it gets me angry. Time for Roos to go, and insert someone who is emotionally invested in the club and its future.

What you're posting that dribble again

Yeah look at the interview again sober.

He was pleased, despite losing.

Only DH here is you and the other sugar coaters. Grow up and accept that we are finished as a club. 16 in a row to North?... hang your heads in shame.

Was happy with the effort and intensity all day. We couldn't work out how to play into the wind in the first and they couldn't in the second.

In terms of the umpiring I was not surprised, North always get the rub from the umps, have done so for years.

Four decisions that for me changed the game.

1: when one of the tallest on the field clearly ducked into one of yhe shortest in Jetta and got a free and a shot on goal.

2: When Goldstein got a free because Gawn holding the same way every ruch does in every contest. Even the commentators were stumped. Again a shot on goal.

3: the diliberate paid against Vince when he handballed while being tacjled and missed two targets by going over their head by about a foot. He simply missed his target. Again a shot on goal.

4: Clear mark not paid to Harmes, missed shot on goal to us.

Shattered to lose that one, but happy to see us kick 20 goals in a match. Apart from the first quarter fade, we fought hard all day. We were just let down by our own disposal into the forward 50.

Maxy... what a beast. Owned Goldy at the stoppages, but got beaten elsewhere...

Kind of makes last weeks loss a little hard to take...

So many silly free kicks given to bloody duckers...

Agreed, if we can play like we did for the last 3 qtrs every week we will win many more than we loose, the team just needs to bring that effort every week or we aren't going anywhere

Are you the type of person who while a building is being built isnt happy until it is finished no matter how good the foundations were while they were being built?

I thought Wagner was okay, laid a great tackle on Thomas in the third but outside of that he didn't do a huge amount.

Frost was pretty poor, no impact.

Stretch I thought was good.  Missed a few targets but kept his spot for next week IMO.

Harmes was okay, kicked a goal in the last and put some pressure on.

Salem played off half back and was terrific.

Yes, I thought Stretch added a bit of pace and had impact and Harmes was a good contributor. Dunn looked rusty at times, but will definitely be better for the run. Garlett would have been very useful today.

I'll leave this up for posterity's sake....
I would say this is how I feel at the moment. Sans the first quarter comment because I don't think we were that horrible in the first as no one knew how fluky the breeze was. North found this out as well the hard way in the second.
As I said, we shouldn't point fingers but was a real missed opportunity.

Some people follow footy with hope in their hearts (the softies he refers to continually), some follow footy so they can tell everyone else how weak they are.

Im the type of person who wont accept losing.. after 10 years of losing.

Its very obvious to me that MFC has a large percentage of suckholes who think that a narrow loss is a good thing. Yeah, lets have several narrow losses each year for the next 15 years.... that would be great wouldnt it?

My dear god the [censored] factor in this site is off the chart. Enjoy your near losses everyone. MFC stand for nothing, and so do most of the sickening apologists who post here.

WINS matter. Nothing else. 10 years of rubbish is more than enough for anyone with standards. The rest of you can please yourselves.

Bad mistake by Watts in the last when he should have had  a shot (only about 30 out) went to pass to Hogan,  North intercepted and goaled.  12 point turnaround and would have had us 6 up. Overall good effort though and if we repeat that against pies and tiges we beat them.

Hate to say it but that shitfull brainfade from Watts cost us the game.

So after a performance like last week's, a coach is a sugar coater if he is pleased with our response this week.   A narrow loss to a top 4 team after a week like last week's is a damn sight better than a 10 goal loss.  Game could have gone either way in the end, but all you see is LOSS.     I bet you came top of every class at school and now run a billion dollar business.  Actually, I don't.

Im a realist.

You and others like you are dreamers with practically no connection to reality.

16 in a row.... to Norf....... 16

Yeah we are great.

I was at the ground, following from last week I was worried we could get monstered and at quarter time it was looking that way. The response after quarter time was incredible, it was a showcase of what we are truly capable against an in form team and in truth we shot ourselves in the foot (not for the first time).

key moments in the last quarter cost us shots on goal/goals and the opportunity to actually get the win.

It was not easy conditions with the wind blowing all over the place and once we settled we looked every bit the team we're capable of being. There is talk about the umpires, and so I'll start by saying we had our chances and we got punished for not taking them. But there were decisions that gifted them shots on goal that were North playing for the frees and the umps being sucked in.

They played a part but I won't say they lost it for us, we had enough chances.

Gawn was amazing and is capable of being AA, maybe not next year but it's in him. He was huge.

Viney played his usual heart out and was big when the game was in the balance.

Lumumba was MUCH better and his run out of defence was important, he still needs to learn when the time is right to do it but he was important for us today.

Oliver showed again why is going to be big for our future, and his first goal was a cracker.

Sooooo frustrating to see this after being dished up that undiluted crap last week, but they must build on it and we have to win next week. We just have to. Collingwood are a very average team and it will be a disaster if we are 1-3 after 4 rounds.

What a pathetic attitude. You pick out one word in a presser and claim we are dead as a result? I understand that you are frustrated, but calling for the coach's head is nothing short of simplistic and dumb, especially when your talking about Paul Roos.

If you were talking about Mark Neeld, well that would be another matter.......

Let's not ignore the elephant in the room either:

It's no co-incidence that when Garland gets dropped we cough up our biggest score of the year...

lol WE LOST !!!

After losing to a team of ring ins last week. My dear god i cant believe that anyone who follows this club need it explained to them, but clearly you are a bit simpler then most so i need to break it down. Lets it be known i am typing very slowly so you can keep up.

The fact that we lost to Essendrug last week should be enough for ANYONE to accept that we have major problems, but to follow it up with our 16th loss in a row to a club nobody seriously rate as a realistic chance at a premiership in a so-called "statement" game is an embarrassment.

Dont mind me talking sense Sue, you just go right ahead and knock yourself out making excuses for losing to Norf.

Mel-Mun, clap clap clap......

Frost was very poor today as a forward/ruck chop out. Not sure why he isn't getting a run in the backline. Do we persist with only Dunn and TMac as our tall backs against the Pies? Or would OMac be  considered? Pedo?

An amazing, frustrating, exhilarating, heart stopping game of footy. Lots to love, lots to despair of.

I know we will play a couple more howlers this year just like the Essendon one, probably at Etihad or against the Lions etc... But for the most part, I can enjoy watching the Dees play again. Who remembers just after the Neeld sacking - our % was in the 50's. Yep, the 50's. Today, after 2 losses, it is in the 90's. We are IN almost every game we play,  even if we get 7 goals behind. We lack polish but we are at the contest, fighting,  clawing, tackling and busting our guts.

I hate losing and am sick of it. But at least I am enjoying the game again.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
