Doesn't let up, does it?

We convincingly beat a side who's the clear favorite to win, while Hawks get spanked by Richmond. Yet, there's still Hawthorn morons online paying out on Melbourne!!

Seriously thinking Hawthorn may replace Collingwood as my most hated team, purely because of the obnoxiously arrogant supporters.

Meh. I've learned to tune it all out. Opposition fans (and media) naturally prefer the status quo of Melbourne being a basket case. It means their own team is one more spot away from the bottom.

Focus us on how the team is progressing and the sounds coming out of the club. Ignore everything else. If they ain't us, they are the enemy. What they say reflects that status.

Well the hawks have just won 3 in a row.

My most hated fans, by the length of the straight and then some, are james hird worshipping drug cheat supporting essendon fans who then somehow have the gall to tell us that we wouldnt exist if it wasnt for all the money they bring to the afl.

If Melbourne had just won 4 of 6 flags I'd be the worse supporter in the world to be near for opposition. I have 39 years of arrogance built up I'm waiting to let loose!

I am surrounded by Eagle and Docker fans over here. HELP!

The only way out for me will be when the MFC can finally field a competitive team.

I am also hoping this means they are capable of winning a flag or two.

I do appreciate that winning a flag in the AFL is a big ask for any drug free club but it worth a go.

I am living for the day Gororoth.

There is a perfect way to shut them up of course.

Win on 4th June.

Tend to agree.
I hate them all.
The druggies are at the top though.

I can feel a certain amount of sympathy for Essendon fans who have been so hideously let down by their club. But any that start talking about some kind of conspiracy against them or the AFL being 'out to get them' need their head checked. And they can never complain about 'subsidising' the poorer clubs again. That club's cheating has probably been a $100m liability to the AFL. It will be interesting to see if Essendon ever regains the kind of support it had ten years ago.

The sweetest win of all though would definitely be Hawthorn at the moment. Not least because to beat Hawthorn, by necessity, you have to be brutal. You have to at least break even against a very mature and tough core of onballers, and then you have to hunt down the speedy creative players and force them to play under physical pressure.

Heh, I guess what I'm saying is 'to beat Hawthorn at any time, you have to play finals-style football', Well, duh. Congratulations me. But no doubt it would be a doubly sweet win, to annoy Hawthorn supporters and also say something significant about Melbourne.

Also, I hope we truly pummel each of Essendon, Carlton, Brisbane and St Kilda. I want us to show we are a class above that bottom layer. Plus, they're all a bit light-on for tall defenders capable of keeping up with Hogan, so a few nice bags of goals for him would be fun.

May the Flatlands of VFL park open up and swallow all who dwell there.  The rest can crumble slowly.

The Hawks have a massive bandwagon tarred in poo and feathered. Probably the biggest in the league.

If they had just been through the last 10 years that we've had they would have a total of 652 members signed to date this year...

I usually ignore all baiting from opposition supporters.  If they say anything to me, I just stare at them in stony silence, with a "you're a complete moron" look on my face.

I can't help myself though when the Hawthorn supporters start tossing on about how it's their great culture that wins flags and blah blah blah.  They seem to want to attribute their success to every superfluous 1%er other than the fact that they just have a lot of good players in their team.

Melbourne supporters singing the Melbourne song before the siren is my pet peeve, opposition supporters i couldnt give a rats razoo about because at the end of the day they will continue to talk down about us until we have sustained form and they can no longer talk down about us.

Melbourne supporters cannot afford to be cocky and there is nothing worse than when it is encouraged to sing the song before the final siren, I never want to see us lose, but just once when supporters start signing the song I would like to see us squander a lead so it never happened again.

It's Game Day and the Demons return to the MCG to face the Tigers in their annual Blockbuster on ANZAC Eve for the 10th time. • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
