From the team sheets online it looks like he'll be sporting #50

He should have been given #34 in the Casey strip for tomorrow’s game.

Seriously, why not? Pretty sure nobody else is wearing it.

Demon shop has run out of 3s following the Kosi re-signing.

Maybe he doesn't want the #34.

Probably someone who wants to create his own pathway and journey without the added pressure and expectations. Not every player wants to live in their father's shadow.

At the pre-Christmas Saturday morning park run and sausage sizzle, he was signing as #34 Kal White> Funnily enough, when I said that's your dad's number, he quickly replied, "It's mine now"

Absolutely love that reply. Shows he’s got passion and the desire to become a Dee.

A real athlete and a project player. Needs a fair bit of size which will come in the AFL system. Certainly a lot to work with.

I hope he selects the Dees.

We only have Gawn, TC and Verrall at 199cm plus so room for Kalani.

After seeing the latter two, plus Fullerton in action last Sat night (and the fact that TC is 33/34) I'm banking on Kalani becoming the next White hope.

Didn't I read somewhere that when he was at one of our pre-season training sessions he was doing autographs with #34 ?

Yep. He was.

What ruck prospect isn't a project player?

Watched the 2nd half of the Casey game tonight.

Wowee this kid is special. Could easily play senior footy next year if he keeps that form up.

The athletic potential is raw, but seriously untapped.

Completely agree. He looked great. And the fact that he kicked two goals will make him feel good vibes about the Dees; I truly hope he comes to us.

For those who missed it, watch the last quarter replay on afl.com.au. I’m sure someone will upload a highlights package, but it won’t do the quarter justice. It’s the 4th, he’s a 17 year old; and just says come with me boys in the 4th. Kicks 2, contested grabs, but it’s the tap work where he just hits players on the run. His first 3 quarters were worrying and then bam! Comes from nowhere to change up the balance in the middle. If Cooper Duff-Tytler had that quarter, it would be on all the footy shows this week!

Yeah, a lot to like about his Casey debut. Nowhere near AFL ready, but gets to the right places, marks at the highest point, kicks well and has a natural ruck awareness.

First time actually seeing him in action tonight. To quote the worst commentator getting around, "Wowee!"

Obviously needs some work as any 17yo does but he is a rare beast in the AFL world. Almost Luke Jackson like in the last quarter in the way he moves. Same blend of height and athleticism.

I'm excited.

First 3 quarters worrying?

The commentators said he was on limited game time for the first two quarters hence why he got significant game time in the last.

Weĺl well well as Alice Cooper would say, looked out of his league early and reminded me of a stick insect, but by God and Sonny Jahhusses found his groove. Rucked particulary well and snagged a couple of timely goals. Um message to MFC.... MOVE HEAVEN AND EARTH TO SIGN HIM UP! LUURVE him already!

The athletic profile is so good for a young tall. He really is like his dad in so many ways; lots of development to come. Raw.

Worth a spot on the list for 3-4 years to let the talent come through.

Well done Kalani.

Shut him down immediately!

Will be a first rounder if he keeps this form up!

Lucky we have the (another!!) VFL bye next week, else he'd be playing again, during his 3-week availability during Q juniors hiatus (hope Suns have a bye, too??!!...)

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
