Gordon is just another who has a conflict of interest in this saga!  The few who don't seem to have a conflict are the players!

BTW, Bulldogs and Saints are going to join Port to ask AFL for the option of a top-up player. 

I can see their point - they have lost KPP and a rookie isn't going to help in the ruck or FF.

There are no eyes available 'CB' but if we need a player in reserve for just in cases then Cross should be our man. He's still fit, he can keep doing his current role but be in reserve if we have the worst run of injury in living memory...

I don't think we will ask for a top-up but it would a chance to give Jake Lovett a run with the squad for a year.

Which I thought is exactly what they did because the afl interpreted the standard of proof too highly

That was my understanding as well.

The Clubs, AFL and players all agreed to abide by WADA rules and WADA Code protocols.

The players when they signed contracts.

The appeal was not based on any legal error. In the process WADA have the right to appeal any ruling for any reason to CAS. It seems wrong but it is there to protect sport from governing bodies of sports putting in patsy judges, hearing everything exactly as the law requires, and then delivering the ruling the governing body wanted. Why does that sound familiar?

lol, sounds like it was designed to provide for corrupt local sporting bodies in Eastern Europe/Africa/Latin America. So they can't just bribe a local judge or whatever.

Balme's comments are misguided and simply mischief.  Regardless of where you sit on this matter, WADA, CAS and ASADA are the bodies for drugs in sport.  We have all seen how the AFL conducts itself when trying to police these matters.

I am surprised with Balme's comments, maybe it's time he took a global view outside of his tiny backyard.

Heard him this morning, he was way off the mark and out of his depth on the subject. KB, Waldron & DC would have none of it so he was pushing s....up hill and seemed to be making it up as he went.

Just more propaganda in the fight to get the AFL to move away from the WADA code.

dont forget - the code is there so that clean athletes can participate fairly and so that athlete health isnt jeopardised by ingesting unknown substances or unsupervised quantities of substances. Sound familiar??

Some of these AFL people beggar belief - anything rather than considering that the players might just perhaps have been guilty. No, they can't be - they're our boys, not Chinese or Russians. It's really quite sickening.

It really is sad when AFL officials kick up a stink about WADA & CAS...I really believe that people on this site had a far better handle on what was going on with Essendon than 95% of those at AFL House...

I heard some of what Balmey said this morning..It was like listening to NRL Sydney Commentators

I thought Balme was better than that...Seems like "Whatever It Takes" is in more places than just Essendope...

Interesting that there wasn't a peep out of all these folks from Gordon to Loyd to Balme when Saad gets out for 2 years for taking the wrong pill once on match day. Everyone agreed he broke the rules and got what he deserved. 

I cant imagine what's in this for Balme . Unless perhaps Dank knows a hell of a lot more about a few people and a few clubs than he wants revealed. Doesn't anyone else think its amazing how little pressure has been put on Dank to talk? and that no one can subpoena him? He knows everything supposedly but still WADA and the AFL  are to blame. Dank is being protected by the press and AFL no doubt about it. No one even mentioning suing him. The further this goes on, and the more people come out publically against WADA, the more I small rotten fish somewhere else in the house outside of bomberland.

the lack of mention/blame/investigation of dank by officialdom and the media is certainly curious and tempts one to think they have something to fear from him, either costly litigation or that he has knowledge of things that would embarass or incriminate other parties. the constant deflection and blame shifting is quite obvious

I was told by a very reliable source at least 2-3 years ago, that 2 Victorian "Power Clubs" were deep in Dank style supplement programs..I am not suprised that Balme is not a fan of CAS or WADA..
