I honestly didn't even know this game was on until I saw the result this morning, and I am assuming there were no dees players in the squad, thank god.

I know I am not alone in this thought, but surely this game has to go. There is only one time a year where the best players in the game come together, and it is for some strange hybrid sport that barely resembles footy.

Surely if we are going to the trouble of getting these great players together, we let them play a game of bloody footy.

Amirite?

Yes you are my friend. Unlike the rugby world cup this isn't a game id set my alarm for early in the morning. Couldnt give two rats about the game to be honest..

No interest except I was hoping for some injuries to some key players though. Won't say who.

It isnt even a real sport. I don't know anyone who cares less about it. Waste of time.

I saw two tests in Ireland in 1984, one in Cork and the other in Dublin. Australia won that series but the thing that stood out for us was how much the Irish loved the contest. Unlike when it's played here people showed real excitement for the Australians coming from the other side of the world to play tests against them. We had a wonderful time in pubs talking to Irish people about the differences in our respective games and the fact that most of our players were full time athletes and the Irish were all amateurs. We even went to the Australian team hotel in O'Connell street the Royal Dublin hotel and met a lot of famous people from the then VFL like Teddy Whitten who bought us a drink and joined us for a chat. I think we need an international aspect to our game and it's an honour for players to be picked for the sqaud.

How much did it cost to fly all the AFL to New York then to Dublin....?

For what....

Meanwhile the Brisbane Bears are $13mill in debt and at least 4 Vic clubs are teetering.

But Gill and his entourage must have Cocktails and Oysters regularly...

Its a reward for mainly AA players to represent there country maybe if we had AA players we might be more interested what pisses me off they play Fletcher but can't reward a guy like Jones who's never gets final action is a multiple BF winner and a loyal skipper and it would be probably one of the highlights of his career but he can't get a gurnsey Roughhead wasn't AA he got a gig the guys had flags international jumpers everything the AFL needs to sort [censored] out so everyone can enjoy things not just a select 5 or 6 clubs. Jones wouldn't have been able to play anyway, so it's a bit of a moot point.

I think it's pretty impressive that the Irish were able to get the win, given that Gaelic football isn't even a professional sport, and they were coming up against the best (arguably) AFL players in Australia. Well done to them.

I don't want any of our players to go near it

I think the round ball makes all the difference. The last time I watched an IRS match the Irish were just much cleaner with disposal. The Aussies couldn't hit [censored].

It's probably fairer to make us use the round ball as opposed to making them use the oval one though.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
