Confessions Thread

Featured Replies

I have owned copies of both Right Said Fred's 1991 debut 'Up' and Prince's 1989 'Batman' film soundtrack.

I confess to following the MFC for 55 years and expecting them to win a flag in the last 50.

Only 55 years?

Same as me. (confession thread, right?)

We're not that old OD. More like Spring Chicken Dee.

1. I think at a better side, with less off field stuff Mark Neeld may have been an okay coach, not saying he wouldn't have been sacked, but i think he's better than his record reflects.

Speaking of MN, see he has changed role over at Essendon from Development to "Game Performance Manager".

Whatever that might be ... he cuts up the oranges?

OK, I'll make a confession. Now I don't want anyone to make some sort of Freudian transference to the Jess Trengove thread but I confess to having serious hots for Lisa Ondieki. Cant say anymore ATM - getting excited.

10cc (Festival Hall) & "Shakin' Stevens" (at the Palais) ... ugh.

I once thought Tapscott was captaincy material ... never initially wanted Northey or Daniher and thought the acquisition of Neeld was great.

I used to have it off with Lady Penelope in the back of her Roller, regularly!

He would end up with Lemons!

Awesome.

Swap the Batman for ABC's Lexicon Of Love?

I was given a free ticket to see The Commodores (with Lionel Richie)... and went

BBO we were both young and silly and besotted with each other, she an aristocrat, me just a young outrageously handsome and gifted international agent with special eyes as she used to comment. Yes there was this magnetism that drew us to each other but she wanted a no strings attached affair, I knew that just would not work for us, especially in the back seat of the Roller. In the end things just got too tangled and I had to move on. I was drawn to blondes and needed to explore my sexuality and developed another relationship this time with Alan but that never worked and his father banished him to Thunderbird 5 in outer space as I remember.

Just as long as you didn't inhale ...:)

I once remember the words " you could build a side around Mathew Bate" somehow escaping from my mouth.

Totally Prendergasted that one.

If I'd inhaled, I fear I would have drowned in my own vomit!

It's a close run thing.

I just looked up 'Look of Love' on YouTube to reacquaint myself with their work. It is fair competition for 'Batdance' so I'm afraid I will have to defer my decision.

Damn.

I thought that Poison Arrow may have been the clincher!

I'm a chronic over-believer.

I think I've brought it down to a manageable level - I was only slightly and briefly disappointed at Toumpas going.

But maybe that's because I have too much faith in our recruitment/list management?

Probably my big 'sin' as far as being against general wisdom is that I still think each of Grimes, Garland and Watts have something significant left to contribute. Not 'heroic', I'm not going crazy here, but handy players. A lot of that is an instinctive reaction to the over the top hate-pumping coming from some.

What I can say is, I've never sprayed vicious bile at or about any Demon player.

Bate-fides! The pideal tall, strong, contested marking midfielder who can also chip in as a KPP! Hurrah!

I believe he was the origin for the 'Curse of the 191-192cm Demon' debate.

Possibly he is also the ghostly figure haunting the minds of those least interested in Charlie Curnow this draft.

Convinced myself that Toumpas could play.

Said nice things about Mitch Clark.

Argued that Sylvia would come good.

Said Stefan Martin would never be a footballers' bootlace.

Believed Schwabby's whiteboard Wednesdays.

Convinced myself that Liam Jurrah was a clean-cut tribal elder that would be AFL's greatest story.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
