Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Jack Watts in 2016?

Still waiting on ANY kind of proof of that, you know, seeing you're using it as the crux of your argument.

Why bring that up? You are without any doubt a clown. I have stated all along Watts is an elite user of the footy and has a great understanding of the game but that counts for little when your calling for the ball from the carpark.

It's a pointless argument.  There are some, like me, who think Watts is as useful as [censored] on a bull and others who won't hear a bad word about their little darling.

All will be revealed in 2016.

Binman will be taking a vacation.

In 2016 the whole team will be markedly different in both composition and attack on the ball. I expect a massive improvement, much more consistency and for Watts to be an integral part of the side.

Watts attack on the ball has been the same since his junior days. Doubt it will change all of a sudden.

He is just an incrediblely soft player who just refuses to win the ball when it counts.

While i don't expect to be in and under packs there has been so when times he has 2nd guessed himself whether to hard or not.. When its your turn to go you go.

How are Terlich and Matt Jones chances looking then?

Maybe I shouldn't have used the expression "attack on the ball" (relating to the team) when we all know that Watts skill set is use of the ball and disposal to advantage. He is not the hardest man on our team but with recent recruitment he doesn't need to be the hardest as we are shaping up pretty well in that area with Vanders, Petracca, Brayshaw, Viney, Bugg etc etc. Watts value is in his goal assists and disposal which is one of the best in our team along with Salem. Having him part of the team improves it and it will be just one component of an overall marked improvement in the way the MFC competes in 2016 and beyond.

Sooooooo that would be a "no" on you having proof then? Just so we're clear on the actual point and not trying to move the goal posts again.

So where is that proof he was going to be traded to Carlton? You've mentioned it numerous times now...

The proof Stu was all the media stories at the time saying Malthouse had been in contact with him, Carlton had made an offer and that Watts was waiting to see if the rumour of Roos coaching us was true. It was at this stage that some still believed that under a recognised coach he would fulfil his talent, only problem being there was never a question mark over his disposal or decision making. I think in part Roos dropping Watts for the last game was message for him that if he couldn't be traded that he needed to use this pre season to get over what ever is stopping him from competing or face more of the same in 2016.

For the record the only part of the newspaper I read us the sport and at times they are on the money.

didn't hear anything about being cleared

just that didn't proceed because "victim" didn't want to make a police statement

To clarify DC I just read the SEN headline on FB which stated "Police clear Dustin Martin", I didn't bother reading the article. I've already wasted enough time today arguing with Stu....again.

Trengove too!

Also, the following players had limited games due to injury and/or inexperience

Kent - 4
Peddo - 7
Harmes - 8
ANB - 11
Stretch - 11
Salem - 10
Dawes - 14
Vandenburg - 14
Gawn - 14
Tyson- 15
Viney - 16
Jetta - 16

You'd expect a lot more games from that group in '16

Kennedy is tiny, has poor skills and terrible composure, I doubt he'll be keeping Watts out of the team, he'll more likely be in competition with Matt Jones and Terlich. Hopefully the others make it tough for him though.

Yeahhhhhhhh none of those players play a remotely similar role to that being asked of Watts.... Bit like saying Gawn's spot is in danger because Lumumba's ankles will be right next year

Yeeeeeeah Watts doesn't really have a set position so any player that forces his way in to the 22 is somebody who can move around the whiteboard and force Watts out

and Yeeeeeeeeeeah Gawn is an awful example becuase there could not be a more different player than Watts in terms of ownership of a spot, except perhaps Hogan

but Yeeeeeeeeeah mate

Yeahhhhhhhh I thought you had me blocked? You've made a point of mentioning it time after time.

But yeahhhhhhhh feel free to let Roosy know roles and structures don't matter anymore, anyone can play anywhere, cos you know, he hardly ever talks about roles..... Yeahhhhhh

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
