Delisted Free Agents

So in other words hes another Sam Blease.

Pass

Yeh he could be, who knows. He certainly has a lot of attributes which we are lacking at the moment such as outside speed as well as goal kicking. I haven't followed him since he has been drafted so I'm not really qualified to make a judgement, but if you take a look at his highlights from the 2011 season alone you can see he has a lot of talent.

Kieran Harper started his career with a bang but has a Blease-sized tank and is not defensive at all.

Elliot Kavanagh's shortcomings are largely attitudinal and there is no way Roosy would pick him.

Five days down of the first DFA period with only 4 days to go and we're still yet to see any signed.

Obviously not a good year for the DFA!

Did you honestly thought there was going to be action in the first couple of days?

There is a reason why they are delisted..

He's just making an observation, mate.

And Stuie accused me of being a smart alec. Unnecessarily, I might add.

Your also way too sensitive. Not in any way did i mean that in any smart alec form at all.. just pointing out that delisted free agency isn't exactly something thats going to be breaking news all over social media. And lets be honest.. they are delisted because they are all spud or moved on because they are not seen in future plans.

It's the first time I've been called sensitive.

Thanks.

Absolutely i thought there would be some signings.

Didn't think we'd see a signing each day or anything, but thought we would have seen some. Especially from someone like Geelong who have several list vacancies and aren't entering a shallow draft until Pick 60 odd.

There's some handy players available and we've seen DFA'S signed every year so far.

It's interesting that it's a shallow draft AND clubs don't seem to be in to any DFA.

It might not be a coincidence.

In a stronger draft clubs would delist more players and have more picks. This year everyone is holding on to their players so there isn't the same quality out there.

Clubs won't want to have late round rookie picks so I think a few will get picked up then.

I notice Nick O'Brien was delisted today by Essendon (along with Wil Hams). I'm surprised. Not only did O'Brien put N Jones out of business in our game against them this year, he's had quite a few good games. I don't expect we'll pick him up but I expect someone will.

Yeah, he will get another go somewhere.

Matthew Wright from Adelaide? Delisted.

Seems to be a ball getter. Anyone know what his disposal is like?

I actually don't mind this bloke..

This does not mean I support us picking him up.. I was just very surprised he got delisted..

We have 3 list spots and I believe we have to use a minimum of 3 draft picks by AFL regulations.

Can't see us paying out an NQR to sign up an older NQR.

To strong a focus going into cultural change to pay out a contract in order to get a delisted player in.

maybe if someone like Moore didn't get picked up he'd be a rookie option, i reckon he's got some ability.

Mitch Harvey & Lloyd Perris in the rookie draft, subject to who we pick up in the national draft.

If we pick up Parish and Perris to go with Pedersen and Petracca we can redraft Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers.

(Try saying that out loud three times quickly.)

The Tigers continuing their strategy of hoping that other clubs' rejects will take them to the next level.

Agree.. besides getting Yarran they nabbed some no name from GWS who was bound to be delisted.

This was on the back of not trading at all last year.

Hard to say where i see the tigers going next couple of years. I hooe we overtake them next year.

Clubs aren't expecting DFAs to take them to the next level, but to offer depth or fill a role. Although he was picked as a rookie, Miles has turned out to be a gem for Richmond. Hawks picked up Fitzpatrick, so what does that tell you?

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
