So glad we didn’t take parish. Jason Taylor’s best call yet

Ironic thing is Darcy Parish had 43 disposals on Saturday night against Richmond.

Yet didn't even poll a coaches vote.

Stark contrast..

His tackling is also up there as well.  3rd highest tackle average in the team and equal 59th in the AFL.

He is 6th on the all time "tackles per game" list at 5.9.

And he has the highest ever "contested possessions per game" at 15.3 (a long way ahead of Cripps who is 2nd with 14.6).

So he is in the all time record conversation for disposals, contested possessions, clearances, and tackles, yet people think he needs to kick more goals to be one of the greats?

Round 11  (+5) = 910 - 135 Matches Played

 P Cripps = 1000  Clearances - 144 Matches Played

=90 / 9 = 10 per match to equal.

drifting, drifting...

Will be done EASY

He also needs only 216 disposals to hit 4000.

I think the record is Tom Mitchell (137 games), with Greg Williams 2nd fastest at 140 games.

Clarry is currently on 132 games so he needs an average of 43.2 to match Tom (unlikely) but is very likely to end up in second.

Clarry did notch up 2000 Contested Possessions today is his 132nd though, which very much could be a record.

After today he needs 34 more disposals next week to complete 4000 disposals in his 138th game, placing him second fastest of all time to that mark.

Ugh! I've fallen asleep at the wheel....

Round 13 = 923 - 137 Matches Played

 P Cripps = 1000  Clearances - 144 Matches Played

=77 / 7 = 11 per match to equal.

Drifting some more....

So close!  😎❤️💙

Patrick  Cripps = 1000  Clearances - 144 Matches Played

Clayton Oliver - = 989 Clearances - 144 Matches Played.

I reckon he’s playing at about 80%. His hand is still impeding him a bit.

He’s such a good player to watch as a supporter. He just gives absolutely everything.

Thanks EO, that's a really good write-up.  I can't recall Oliver getting much press at all previously.

It makes it sound like Clarry is from Echuca, but I thought he hailed from Mooroopna (Shepparton).

Probably one of the worst edited videos I've ever seen for a supposed highlight reel. Some clayton isn't even involved in and one is literally an essendon goal. Even the title is wrong. Thought I would share for the lols.

Agree ... very very average! Please do the great man justice when compiling a "highlights" reel.

Agree. It’s clearly a joke.  Surely.

I know he’s currently in London on holidays but the club should arrange for Echuca/Mooroopna’s favourite son to send a message of support for those doing it really tough at home with the floods.

Surely MFC chooses Oliver ahead of Parish.

Oliver is like Wines... a COMPETITOR.

@picket fence

yes we called it … there wasn’t outrage when MFC chose Oliver.  WE WERE VERY HAPPY. He was the player we wanted !! And what a superstar he is.

I was very please when we selected him because he made an unbelievable effort to get fit before the AFL camp and showed he wanted a place on an AFL list.

He was the Morrish medal winner in 2015 so the talent was there but he needed to show he was serious about becoming an AFL player.

A good insight into Clayton’s mindset as well as how cruel the AFL industry can be for young players looking to get drafted. Also some good insights on life inside the club.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
