Well done to both Pig Dog & Fitz!

I suspect Fitz may find an AFL home next year.

Also well done to Jack Hutchins. Had a very good year I thought.

Agree re Fitzy. Said to Saty many times in past how I think he could have a reasonable career, but to have that, he would have to leave the Demons.

I hope that prediction comes true

Personally I was sorry to see Fitzy get delisted. He did an excellent job that day he held Boyd to one touch against the Bulldogs and he played some great games for Casey. Considering his problem with injuries in the first few years, I am unsure why we delisted him as soon as he managed a full season. There are not many 200cm project players around who can play both ends and I only have to look at Martin to be reminded what happens with some players when they move to another Club (as lowly as ourselves). Pig Dog also did not get much of a chance, especially for a player who missed much of the pre-season. Considering we have retained the contracted Terlich and Jones (neither of whom appear amongst Casey's best players), it is surprising that we were so quick to delist these two before the commencement of the trade period.

Surely either they:

1) could have value as trade bait,

2) be rookied as we promote Vanders, Harmes and possibly White, or

3) go on Casey's list whilst we continue to develop them and use them as the nucleus of a stronger "Reserves" team as we progressively improve our list depth under Roos, Goodwin and McCartney!

I think we might have pulled the trigger on Fitzy prematurely. It's true that he was on the outer with the selection panel but surely he might have been useful in the trade period? Now, he can be taken as a DFA for nothing and it would not surprise if that happened.

Shouldnt we look at this the other way. That our list is actually getting better.

At the start of the season many posters were doing their best 22 and saying how much depth we have. Injuries to a few players and how quickly we got found out.

We have very little depth to speak of with some players who got regular games not up to it but were picked due to lack of other options.

If Roos took over as coach 3 weeks ago we would be entitled to think some of the delistings are reactionary but the fact we are entering our 3rd preseason under him we should all be backing his judgement along with the other coaches.

It was a shock to see Fitzy on the Footy Show players review last night.

Maybe as it's a shallow draft pool, he has been offered a rookie spot if he has no interest from other clubs. He certainly would be handy as he can play forward, back and in the ruck.

Like with Nev Jetta, it might be the kick up Fitzy's arse that he needs to take his game to the next level.

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
