Saints have been building up their key position stocks over the last couple of years. They've got McCartin, Bruce, Membrey and three ruckmen that they want to play two of each week.

Every saints fan i've spoken to reckons they'll be focusing on midfielders and Mathieson seems to be the name gathering the most traction from what i've heard.

Reckon Gold Coast will go with Francis for two reasons. One because Francis is tipped togo in the 3-5 area. Two because after Thompson & May, Gold Coast are a little thin for KPD.

I think many see Curnow as a mid at AFL level and not a key forward so I don't think this will be a consideration. I hope it is and we get Curnow.

I hear that Parish is the best mid in the draft and that he would be a likely target at pick 3. But i would have zero complaints about Curnow.

I think Parish is our pick 3. Absolutely a bonus if Curnow was still available at 7.

Curnow at #7 would be great, but I don't think he slips pass Essendon at #5.

The media types seem to think we're going targeting Parish and Weideman. The picks would look about right to get both. A quick theoretically classy mid and another beast of a forward would be a good pair to pick up.

It does seem that Parish is the consensus pick 3. If one of Curnow, Francis or Weideman were available at pick 7, it's a win no matter how you look at it.

Averages 13 possessions in under age. I don't think he ll have enough of an impact. Prefer Mathieson who is the usual hard at it can't go wrong pick.

We already have Petracca/Trengove who can play as marking mids/forwards

Curnow (if not taken 1 2 or 3) will go to Bombers. I know the Curnows and assuming Essendon have told him that is the case based off what one family member told me. No clue what we're doing but if we wanted him it would be at 3

At TAC level Petracca actually performed better - way better as a forward in his first year than Curnow in either of his years. In his second year Petracca smashed it as a mid. Curnow is unproved as a mid.

I think there is little or no doubt that Petracca will be special whereas the experts say Curnow COULD be a special player.

yeah I think Mathieson is sloppy with the ball. Wins a lot of it but uses it poorly. Don't want him at the Dees. Looks like a Collingwood player.

I'm really torn on pick 3. On the one hand Parish seems to be a quick skillful mid, which is a definite need for us. On the other, Curnow is a big strong forward with a large tank which is also a need!

Let's not make the same mistake and go for a sure thing in Mathieson. His big body would help out Casey while he improved his disposal.

Petracca is a different player entirely. Petracca is far more athletic, balanced and explosive than Curnow. Curnow is a raw package compared to Petracca IMO. But that isn't necessarily a bad thing, Jesse Hogan was a raw package when he came to the club.

He won't be, because he missed the national championships and there are some fantastic kids around - but I haven't changed my mind that much. He's the youngest of five kids and a bit of a free spirit. He goes to uni and loves his surfing, but he has massive upside. He's a fantastic athlete - he has some unbelievable times under his belt on the athletics track and he's a good high jumper, but he's still learning how to use it on the footy field. Just on who we take at 3, my feeling is that seeing as it's been hard for us to attract good big men (apart from drafting), and we do need to find Jesse a mate, and (supposedly) mids grow on trees- then we take the best KP that won't be available at 7 with 3, then we take the best mid available at 7.

My MFCSS is in a confused state right now and I'm trusting this club a little more each day. Happy to sit back on this one and trust the club.
