Post Match Discussion - Round 21

Players should be banned from planning end of season trips until after the end of the season.

Carlton are a top 4 team, could have been worse, we could have lost to a bottom two team.

I haven't looked at the ladder all year, just guessing here.

We can obviously play when we feel like it.

Rubbish,

Every team we have beaten this year have been terrible at the time.

I look forward to the off season with interest. I can't wait to see the back of Howe, Grimes, Dunn, Garland and Watts.

When you put it that way ET it really gives cause for optimism.

Surely there's nothing more to add at this point.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expect a different result.

Everyone up for trade except Hogan and Brayshaw.

Club needs to be gutted to start again.

This club will go the way of Fitzroy. Its inevitable.

I seriously hope that half-assed 'comeback' doesn't gloss over anything.

That was absolutely [censored] disgraceful and something needs to change.

I'd try to take solace in the fact that it couldn't possibly get worse than this, but every time I've found myself thinking over the past few years that the club has found a new way to prove me wrong. We should forfeit the game next week, we're causing irreparable damage to the sport just by taking the field at the moment.

Absolutely pathetic.

These Prima-donnas can't win a match when they favourites (the Bears lost), despite being pathetic for so many years, these half-wits seem to believe they have games like today's (and Essendon) won before it began.

They obviously think they don't have to try (5 tackles in a quarter!) and the game will come to them.

The team need to pull their head out of their backsides and learn what the supporters know, that they are not even near good enough to take any team lightly.

Weak pricks.

We've won 6 games, we've improved so much......

If I was hogan I wouldnt get on the return flight from perth next week

I have bad news for you Dunn Garland and watts are going nowhere.

Oh it can

Jones, Vince, Dunn, Garland. These are your leaders. All played like they were scared of making a mistake or didn't want to be there.

A disgraceful, abhorrent effort. There's no pride in the jumper or seemingly even personal pride.

The lack of effort for the majority of the match is unacceptable. Poor old PJ has an up hill battle next year with membership. I've already renewed mine, but I no longer begrudge those who don't.

Trade N.Jones while we still can

I have bad news for you Dunn Garland and watts are going nowhere.

2nd/3rd round pick for each.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
