1. Gawn

Howe played with great courage given how much he was limping after the first 10 minutes. Gawn was beaten but never gave up.

Matt Jones was smashed in the first quarter when he failed to curb Dal Santo. But kudos to him for lifting when switched to the wing. His run in the second and third quarter we significant contributors to our resurgence.

6 Dawes. Got us back into the game when we looked like we’d lose by a hundred.

5 Hogan. This kid is going to be an absolute jet of an AFL player, if he isn’t already.

4 Tyson. Best game for the club this year. We needed it, because the rest of our mids stank.

3 Brayshaw. Our best home-grown midfielder in years.

2 Viney. Our second best home-grown midfielder in years. Bullock our midfield into action.

1 Vince. Way down on his usual form, but still played a vital midfield role.

Dishonourable mentions:

3 Garlett. Who knows what would have happened had he marked that simple chester.

2 Watts. Blew a lot of chances by being too cute.

1 Garland. Atrocious disposal.

Which quarter did Garlett drop the chest mark? I can't find it on the replay.

I reckon Viney would be taking the Bluey home this year had he not broken his leg

lol broken leg and still in the running to win it, will surely get a podium. Such a Jack Viney way to do it.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc.
