What does Hogan Though mean?

Damn, I cannot read when commas are missing and upper & lower case is mixed up.

Thank you.

I am such an old fart when it comes to the written word.

Sorry gentlemen,

Refer to urban dictionary:

To add more unecessary words to a sentence....though is not really used for much when coming at the end of an already complete sentence.
What up though?

When you coming over though?

His fit was clean though.

Hope this helped.

And one massive statistic that hardly gets mentioned is that we average the lowest amount of inside 50's in the competition...therefor making it even harder for our forwards to kick goals...if we average 53 inside 50's instead of 43 inside 50's ...one would think hogan would have 15% more goals to his name ,,possibly around 37...

Wouldn't it be awesome if one of them really got hold of a game before the season is out

Im talking a bag of 8 or 9

Can't see Garlett doing that, but Hogan could certainly bag 7 or 8.

When was the last time a Melbourne player kicked 10? Was it Lyon in 94?

So both you and someone who created an urban dictionary entry don't understand the word "though"...

Cool story though.

Think there have been a couple of games where Garlett has had at least 6 or 7 shots on goal. It's a pity he can be very inaccurate.

Great site for checking records, the season summaries are especially clear - http://afltables.com/afl/afl_index.html

I wonder if Hogan and Garlett are having any friendly competition about end of season tally?

Right now they are tied on 32 - the last time we had a tie it was Neitz and Farmer on 30 apiece in 1997.

I am very comfortable with Hogan/Garlett evoking thoughts of Neitz/Farmer!

Now, who will be our modernised Robbo?

[starts scouring phantom drafts]

Could be a friendly competition but Jeffy is very unselfish in front of goal. He handpasses or kicks it to a teammate regularly.

GD, quoting the "urban dictionary" does not really help.

The upper case T on though is an anomaly though.

Some of the examples you provided are non English. (What up though? - I have no idea what that means. )

So I remain confused. Thank you for attempting to enlighten a grumpy old pedant.

Edit:- Personally I tend not to accept words that are not in the Macquarie Dictionary circa 2000.

I find statements like - the get go- off of - an abomination. I am old fashioned.

Forget the comparisons and other stuff. It's clear we have finally picked up a genuine gun (possibly a generational player). Let's enjoy what we've got. Let's hope the MFC can pay him whatever shite load of money is needed to contract him forever. Let's hope Petracca is a gun. Let's hope that Brayshaw continues inhis development.

Let's hope the [cens ored] we win a premiership!!

Soon!!

Has some cockiness/cheek about him. Love it.

That was awesome, thanks for posting. Interesting that he grew up a Crows supporter, maybe people can stop posting that stupid pic of him wearing a Freo scarf now

Billy Brownless dropping hints Jesse should move to the Cats - "You seem to spend a lot of time on that side of town"

Jesse - "Absolutely dreaming" :) :)

that would be predominantly me doing that. Ruffles feathers, stirs the pot, gives me some joy in my otherwise sad life. That kind of thing.

The upper case T on though is an anomaly though.

not necessarily mandee

this was a thread title and as such a title or heading (not a normal sentence)

it is not uncommon to capitalise all words in a heading (including insignificant words) but it is also not necessarily universal

ymmv

I feel instantly sick anytime someone mentions him moving to another club (joking or not).

To hear people like Dunstall say he is miles ahead of where Franklin was at the same stage of his career.

Lock him away until 2020 at least!!!

Your being too kind.

Your being too kind.

The big question is, does he have the longevity and consistency....

In the year 2020 where will he be at in 5 years from now....

He has played a great year in the VFL as a 17 year old

1 season of injury...

Followed up by a injury free excellent debut year in the AFL, earning the highest praise from experts, legends and greats of the game.

I take the ""all in" approach sometimes...but...we should offer him OVERS

Respect to those who recruited him...but job half done...lock him in.

I know but it gives me the shytes though.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

Saturday’s election night game in Perth between the West Coast Eagles and Melbourne represents 18th vs 15th which makes it a tough decision as to which party to favour. The Eagles have yet to break the ice under their new coach in Andrew McQualter who is the second understudy in a row to confront Demon Coach Simon Goodwin who was also winless until a fortnight ago. On that basis, many punters might be considering to go with the donkey vote but I’ve been assigned with the task of helping readers to come to a considered opinion on this matter of vital importance across the nation. It was almost a year ago that I wrote a preview here of the Demons’ away game against the Eagles (under the name William from Waalitj because it was Indigenous Round).  I issued a warning that it was a danger game, based on my local knowledge that the home team were no longer easybeats and that they possessed a wunderkind generational player in Harley Reid who was capable of producing stellar performances playing among men a decade and more older than he.  At the time, the Eagles already had two wins off the back of a couple of the young man’s masterclasses and they had recently given the Bombers a scare straight after their Anzac Day blockbuster draw against the then reigning premiers.

  • NON-MFC: Round 08

Round 08 of the 2025 AFL Season kicks off on Thursday with a must-win game for the Bombers to stay in touch with the top eight, while the struggling Roos seek a morale-boosting upset. Friday sees the Saints desperate for a win as well if they are to stay in finals contention and their opponents the Dockers will be eager to crack in to the Top 8 with a win on the road. Saturday kicks off with a pivotal clash for both sides asthe Bulldogs look to solidify their top-eight spot, while Port seeks to shake their pretender tag. Then the Crows will be looking to steady their topsy turvy season against a resurgent Blues looking to make it 4 wins on the trot. On Election Night a Blockbuster will see the ladder-leading Pies take on the Cats, who are keen to bounce back after a narrow loss. On Sunday the Sydney Derby promises fireworks as the Giants aim to cement their top-eight status, while the Swans fight to keep their season alive. The Hawks, celebrating their centenary, will be looking to easily account for the Tigers who are desperate to halt their slide. The Round concludes on Sunday Night with a top end of the table QClash with significant ladder implications; both Queensland teams are in scintillating form. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons hit the road in Round 8, heading to Perth to face the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium. With momentum building, the Dees will be aiming for a third straight victory to keep their season revival on course. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
