Put on your thinking cap od. Make it a celebratory Pinot with Sis after the game, and kill two birds with one stone.

Sadly it is an afternoon affair with no Dees supporters there.

Tough choice at this point

Also I cannot spell Pinot

Jimmy showed "something" in that game and deserves some further match time to find his place, confidence and the pace of AFL. Only his 3rd season and last year was interrupted. At least another 2 pre seasons away (and a good 5 to 10kg) from potentially having a significant impact at this level on a consistent basis.

Let's hope he makes it.

Why is it taking so long Seems to be the way for MFC in the past Brayshaw straight in and at it. Why JT take so long

Some blokes take longer.

Imagine if we'd parted ways with Jetta when he was one of this forum's whipping boys?

Like all demon supporters (even PF) I hope Toumpas makes it and I don't consider myself to be a Toumpas "basher", but he didn't have a good game on Saturday. 8 kicks and 6 handballs at 57% DE and 1 tackle is hardly setting the world on fire.

IMO Toumpas lacks the pace required for such an outside player. He will never be very good on the inside due to his lack of size and strength and he panics when he gets the ball under pressure. This may be eradicated with experience and it will have to be if he is to play more than 50 games. Even in his good game against the Dogs he gave up an easy goal with a panic handball.

For this week I would prefer we go with Riley, Newton and Tyson.

Anyway, you are the last poster that should criticise another of bias given your open hatred of Lynden Dunn.

I didn't say he was getting enough of the ball, or even that he was disposing of it well, so I'm not fussed about his disposal level or his DE (which is a useless stat and says nothing anyway, but that's beside the point). At any rate, his 14 disposals was more than Lumumba, Bail, Spencer, Jones, Jetta, Garlett, Howe and Fitzpatrick. He also had the same number of tackles as Hogan, Dunn, Fitzy, and more than Grimes, Jones, Bail, McDonald, Jetta and Watts. In the context of our limp half-and-a-bit, I don't really think you make any meaningful point by referring to his disposal stats.

None of this is what I was talking about though. Two of the biggest criticisms of Toumpas to date have been that he is a poor runner (both in terms of gut-running and pace), and that he is soft. Over the last fortnight he has made obvious, and quite marked, improvements in both those areas. He has put himself in the hole in front of leading players. He's been at the bottom of packs. And most noticeably, he has displayed a level of gut-running that has been disappointingly absent in his career to date.

The point being, Toumpas is finally beginning to show improvement, especially in the two main areas he has been hounded for to date, and yet your post (and someone else's too) read like they have for the last year or two, with no regard to his recent form or the efforts Jimmy has clearly made. The above post refers to 'panicking' and not being any good on the inside - long-standing problems, but the last fortnight, not as big of a deal. We need to be rewarding the improvement he's showing.

As for the comment on Dunn, I may not like him, but I was there to support and applaud him in 2014 when he lifted his game to the next level and put in for the team. So far in 2015 he has regressed, badly, and isn't putting in the required effort. He's a part of the leadership group and we need more from him. But, making my argument really, I acknowledged his improvement when it was plain for all to see - he stopped doing in 2014 what I couldn't stand in 2013 (and earlier).

There might be a few extra with The Rev's Big Freeze walk from Fed Square on OD.

I'm having trouble getting motivated to watch us as well but i'll go along (with some family in tow) to support the Rev and watch us massacre the Pies... "cough"

i wonder if any player will make a republican or royalist gesture on field, and what will eddie say?

Doubt it dc the fear a reprimand from the AFL.

It is not appropriate to take politics on the football field.

Hehe, twirp.

Riley an irresistible in!!

And Toump and Watts? They stay in oh mighty one?

I wonder if Watts still has nightmares when this game comes around.

Actually in the last 4 QB games Jack has been pretty good.

2011 19 disposals 7 tackles!!!! Yes, 7!

2012 18 disposals.

2013 16 disposals.

2014 21 disposals.

I don't think that this game should cause him to have nightmares.

Hey, at least we get a day off and a big game each year out of the royals. What do our politicians give us? Pretend to manage the country whilst covering up blunder after blunder & wasting all our wealth (wasn't that long ago we were the wealthiest nation per capita by a very decent margin)! Maybe we should have an unelected technocracy like what is really running Europe & England via the EU? They are the new 'royals' of the world. Elites rule the corporations that rule the world, I doubt becomming a republic will do anything for us when we're already run by useless crooks. Except we'd lose the QB clash against Collingwood...... Great plan picket

Unless the AFL supports the issue. For example, they have policy against illegal drugs. You can do them 3 times more in the AFL than elsewhere.

actually more if you self-report

but the afl are really really really concerned about illicit drugs (making sure no-one gets punished, that is)

If Howe isn't dropped this week then it seems obvious he's gone and we're simply trying to keep his trade value up.

Let's ditch the constitutional monarchy and become communist like Red China! I like the idea that they produce two US$ Billionaires each week. It sounds like a much fairer system to me!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
