Let's select someone who would kill to get the football or do anything to protect a team mate with the ball. Pleeeeeaaaaaase !!!!!

Where do you think he's been playing in the VFL - basically in the goalsquare and then on the ball as relief for Spencer/Jamar.

He's got a bit of forward instincts, often floating back behind his opponent and he's so tall he presents matchup difficulties.

I'm certainly not saying he's a superstar and he's prone to clangers, but if you've watched the VFL a bit, you would have seen that he pulls down quite a few marks and is a long-ball option.

He played his best VFL game last week when he had to take the Ruck with Jamar going off injured.

He is not and never will be a forward/ruck in the AFL , he plays it in the VFL where he can get away with it.

The choice is Spencer or Gawn but not until Gawn has put a few solid games together as the number one ruck at Casey.

I disagree. its not just about the 4 guys in the centre. When there are several links in the chain of the 18 on the ground that are poor and not even getting a touch that makes the whole team look terrible.

We should not be reliant on 3 first year players, we have enouigh talent in the team to be competative

We should not be reliant on 3 first year players, -- but we are

we have enough talent in the team to be competitive -- really? Seriously? Lack of talent and depth of talent particularly in the midfield are our principal problems IMVHO

I would be very happy - please name names

Dawes won't be playing. Coach says he needs another week off to get over the calf.

M. Jones must go. Bail is useless.

The two players that give us grunt in the middle Riley and Tyson should be back.

The pies will have 2 rucks, so why not do something different and put in 2 rucks, but not as a defender.

Put fitzy up forward, get them to defend the extra tall instead of us.

I'd love to see F. witts try and defend against fitzy.

Based on form from the red centre N. Jones is on the edge, but he will stay because he is the skipper.

Newton is a chance and ANB should be given a chance

Howe will stay because he may just pluck a mark or two this week.

Watts should go to the snow so he can miss the QB nightmare, but who do you replace him with?

Now Pig...you ought to know far better than to come on here with common sense.....now its 24hours in the naughty corner for you....but your allowed half a dozen decent bottles of Red to facilitate your understanding of this glaring error of judgement !! off you go !! :)

Aiden RIley will, should never have been dropped

he wouldn't have been if demonland had any say in it

Watts is already in the team

IN: Tyson, Riley, Newton, Michie

OUT: Howe, Bail, Fitzy, M.Jones

Need more run and speed. Need more clearances and ball winners. Michie rewarded for good VFL form.

Agree we need more run and speed Stuie, but I don't think any of your ins offer that.

I'm hoping for 3 big changes for the QB match.

Bitter's undergarments,aftershave,and socks.

Out : Toumpas Bail Fitzy

In : Dawes Tyson Riley

Apart from taking a hanger every two or three weeks Howe has been absolutely useless this year.

He had only six touches last week, must be dropped.

I hear what you're saying, none of those guys are super quick, but what I do think they offer as opposed to the outs is the knowledge of where to run and the willingness to do so. Tyson and Newton are very good at running to the right spots, Riley gives us the willing guy in the middle, and Michie is good at running wide. Bail looks lost, Howe is lazy, M.Jones a bit unlucky but he just gets stuck on the boundary, and we clearly went too tall last week so Fitzy probably needs to come out.

That's my take anyways.

Just a momentary lapse Stu.

BTW we are almost in accord. I want Riley in for his muscle against Collingwood. Newton also provides this as well as the ability to kick a goal. Tyson adds a bit of class.

Bail and Jones out. I'm unsure of the third. Fitzy should go as he was totally inept last week but may get a reprieve on the basis of being a tall defender. Watts and Howe were also very ordinary but will play in the big game. Toumpass did some good things but did not go hard on a couple of occasions he needed to.

Despite the limp wristed effort , three changes will probably do it.

Not a Michie fan, seems like a very vanilla footballer to me, but he's been excellent for Casey and will probably get a call up. Have a sneaky feeling Dawes may get a call up too, which may or may not be deserved. Would love to see Toumpas last another couple of games and see if he can get some confidence up, he's a totally different player when he doesn't overthink.

Out : Toumpas Bail Fitzy

In : Dawes Tyson Riley

Please, not Dawes.

He's not up to it.

Please, not Dawes.

He's not up to it.

And hes not fit. Roos already ruled him out for QB

Please, not Dawes.

He's not up to it.

Do you want to put a rider on that?

...at the moment?

...in bad form?

...with bad calves?

Or is it a case of Dawes?

I don't know much other than Tyson will come into this side for any of the 5-6 players mentioned.

I also don't mind Newton as a player, I think people forget he only has 9 or so senior games to his name. He is worth developing and his goal kicking is needed.

How do we match up against Collingwood? I would assume McDonald will take Cloke, who takes White - Dunn? Garland? And if Witts/Grundy rest forward, do we need a third tall defender (i.e. Fitzy)?

Fitzy wasn't necessary against Port and shouldn't have played, but if we need him against Collingwood maybe he'll stay.

Midfield-wise, I'd be astounded if we don't see at least two of Tyson, Riley, Newton and Michie in the side.

I'd like to see TMac take Cloke, Dunn should be more than enough for White, I'd put McDonald on Elliot, Jetta on Blair and Fitzy on the resting ruck.

The problems for me in the Port game were that Fitzpatrick didn't have a clear match up and that whilst Bail and Matt Jones performed roles against the Bulldogs, they weren't great with the ball in hand.

Furthermore, our midfield is still incredibly weak and I feel that the likes of Newton, Riley (or Michie) wold offer more midfield support as opposed to Bail and Matt Jones.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
