Mitch Clark out with a foot injury ...

Featured Replies

Made it clear many times here how I feel about Clark as a player and how for a club it is important to have players that not only have scruples but also loyalty to our club.

But in saying that I would never celebrate someone's injuries.

So let me say clearly I'm definitely not celebrating.

However smiling is another matter, especially when I think about how Karma can be such a [censored] at time.

Personally I find some of the comments pathetic, some really do need to grow up

I said round 1 that i give it 4 or 5 weeks before he gets injured

Right in the money

Wouldn't wish it on anyone but it might just be a little hint of karma for the way everything went down.

Hopefully it doesn't negatively affect his mental state too much.

Oh grow a humour muscle.

I agree, it's a real pain in the foot.

Lifes a Mitch. Then you marry one.

Paul Roos just keeps nailing this stuff.

I'm so happy/relieved we got Lumumba (who's a real leader for this club) in return for Clark.

Humour muscle? There's a fair bit of schadenfreude on this thread, which might count for humour I suppose. And a few laughs. But there's also a few signs of unresolved resentment. And Saty did refer only to 'some' of the comments, after all. There may sometimes be reasons to worry about his sense of humour, but this ain't one.

You might as well pillory Barassi for wanting a new environment to succeed in. Barassi got it right, Clark may have got it wrong, and this time MFC will be the winners.

I'm afraid it's got to the point where threads like this are simply no longer funny... they are just plain nasty. I really hope the moderators nip this one in the bud quick smart!

Killjoy

To the charge of schadenfreude I plead guilty.

I also plead guilty to the charge of having boasted: "I tipped this" since I remembered while talking to a Geelong supporting friend that the knock on Mitch from the time we filched him from Freo was that he was physically fragile and that Brisbane thought it unlikely he would go the distance on a long career.

To those too sensitive to engage in a smile at this time may I suggest even you will be celebrating as we overtake Geelong...hopefully in Mitch's time.

You're just upset that (a) you did not start the thread, (b) it is not actually about you and, © it is not about you.

Its time to move on ladies & gentlemen -

Im loving what Harry Lumumba is bringing to our side.

He has one of the best sets of wheels in the game today. As soon as HL grabs the ball my first thought is where is Jesse Hogan???? .... He is about to be in the play with a long kick coming from HL - Go Dees.

There's a little, but not much. There's a hell of a lot more of the 'not a leg to stand on', 'don't come running to us' type stuff, and one bore who just can't climb down off that high horse.

The moderators here have strict guidelines when it comes to personal and insulting posts... At least when it's directed at them rather than a former player battling depression

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
