Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

we really need McCarthy to get to the Dockers on a big contract at the end of this year.

I back the club to successfully counter any other Vic clubs offer to Jesse. The WA factor is our achilles. If Dockers get McCarthy that threat reduces somewhat, although not entirely.

Spot on. Would be a great day for us, as it is hard to see Freo being able to service two huge contracts like that, and to put too many eggs in the key forward basket.

I don't think McCarthy would get a huge contract, and has probably already been told he'll be second fiddle to Hogan, who they're undoubtedly desperate to sign. That would be enough to get McCarthy.

FWIW I think Freo's about to slide. Weagles have gone past them and are recruiting better. Freo are not a destination club, despite their relative success. I think Hogan will stay and put MFC back firmly in the centre of the map.

With Fyfe and Hogan in the same team, they wouldn't spend much time out of the finals.

Don't expect Hogan to go though.

I doubt they're telling McCarthy he'll be second fiddle to Hogan, a player who still has two seasons to run on his contract. If he wanted to play second fiddle to Hogan that badly, he'd come to the Dees. The reason he wants to go to Fremantle it to go home and to play at the club he grew up supporting. I don't think Hogan has or will have anything to do with his decision.

That would be like us finding out that we'd recruited Jeff Garlett with the promise that he'd be playing alongside Dion Prestia in 2017.

He kicked 40 goals in his second season he can write he's own cheque, personally I think the AFL should look into some of Fremantles dealings there morals are extremely low.

ANyone else notice Jesse wasn't smiling in the team photo?

OMG......panic stations....

(and Watts was smiling his head off....)

I think your referring to the talk of $cully not smiling in his initial club photo at the draft,  & after jumper presentation...  $cully didn't smile,,,,,,  & as it happens $cully indeed did leave for Foreign X-change pastures...

.... so yes,  the irony of him not smiling immediately after getting drafted & presented with the Dees jumper was an indication of his mood,  & future thoughts.

Please.

What have i ever done to you to warrant such a comment, or did you think you were being funny?

The reason i would abandon the team i love and the only game i watch is because there is no point in devoting time and money on something that will never improve because it is programmed to fail.

I will stay on this forum tho, just to [censored] you.

I will say this much, if Freo lure Jesse home, my days of watching AFL will end at the same time.

I feel the same but I help myself sleep at night with this thought: If he goes, we should be extremely well compensated. We got 2 first rounders for Scully FFS. You never know, Hogan's back could plague his career and we could end up with another Petracca/Brayshaw combo as a result of a trade. That would not be the end of the world. Although Hogan is worth more and and off field than both those players combined. Throw in another Oliver to make it square! I do think he will stay though.

Mate Hogan leaving wont be the end of this footy club. Hawthorn and Geelong have proved this that you can still have success without their number 1 star player.

It's not the fact of him leaving as a player, it's the fact of us getting walked all over, but him leaving will be yet another set back.

If Hogan left (personally think he will leave eventually) i expect the club to make an all mighty mother of all trade deals.

You would think so, but look at McCarthy, didn't get his way and is now on indefinite leave. Who knows what deal they will make at the end of the year.  While Cam is nowhere near Hulk's in talent (IMO) the precedent has been set, if you don't get your way, throw a fit and ask for leave until you get your way.

I do not know Jesse personally, so i can not be certain if he will leave or not, or even if he is the type to screw us over like that.

Would be nice to know from people that grew up with Hulk if he always looked so grumpy LoL.

Hogan has the chance to be the difference.  He knows it, the players know it and the coaches know it.  I suspect he's the type of character to see what this evolving group can deliver.  Will he take ownership and responsibility for what he can contribute ?  Champions usually want to put the team on their back and show the way.

If Hogan goes post a premiership so be it, but for him to leave before the club has made significant inroads it would be a disaster, because he's the type of player that will help make us a destination club.  But I suspect he'll stay.

And if he ever does leave I think he'll remain in Melbourne, which is why I'm confident he won't.

So when GWS reported that they were aware and working with McCarthy's issues during the last year that didn't really cut any sway with you ? As far as you are concerned he has just thrown a fit because he didn't get his own way ?

Where has it been reported that GWS knew he had serious "issues" (other than wanting to be traded back home) during or before last year's trade period ?

Do you really think they would tell the whole footy world they had no idea?

One of the papers suggested that there were issues mid year and were working with him.

So you just remember reading it somewhere at some stage through the year?  From whom, was it GWS saying it or a jerno assuming it Robbo style and after the fact?

Anyway, my fears still stand, the players have all the power.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
