Big 4 caravan park experience at Armadale when you were 12 years old probably isn't a true reflection of the status quo, C&B.

I'm more in the camp that we had shyzen d'ment rather than bad drafting. All of the blokes in that picture would have gone very close to the picks we took them at, and at other clubs probably would have all been decent players.

No they wouldn't have they didn't have the talent Frawley was AA under bailey so he developed the picked the wrong kids Shuey in between Strauss and Blease is laughable , Blease never made if at the cats Strauss and Tappy never got another shot and I thought that strange about tappy because he had an Afl frame if Roos had those picks at the swans he would've traded them for established players and kept the Swans up there for another decade, un fortunately the club was taken over by control freaks when Jim got sick and the rest is history , also I know a friend of dan hannerbury  at the swans and he played a lot of footy with Strauss and the mail I got was Strauss was physically and mentally fragile and he was shocked that he was taken so high.

So many non-competitive players drafted around that time. Scary really.

Thank christ the total opposite is happening under Roos.

Exactly correct non competitive non accountable it's not development it's what's in the ticker get a beast like Viney and Brayshaw and they thrive under any conditions get a guy like Watts and Cook and the rest speaks for itself Viney and AB have more grunt in there little finger than the other 2 I mentioned is Cook even playing country footy because if he isn't that's a huge indictment on the club .

Which I find a little amusing to be honest.

When did he leave Perth? He was a 17 year old and has spent the last 3 to 4 years in Melbourne.

Sure he's had opportunities to experience Perth as an adult but not in the same way as Melbourne.

Perth has heaps to do and a much nicer climate to do it in.

Yeah much nicer climate if you enjoy stinking hot summers for 8 months a year.  Perth is good if you can withstand the extreme heat and cost of living.  Personally I prefer Melbourne lifestyle with much more choice and cheaper eating out.

It says something about disastrous a pick Cool was at 12 that your comment was a joke.

Jesse grew up in Scarborough and is a Marist/Claremont zone boy, certainly wouldn't be heading into Northbridge, with a long list of friends from the Western suburbs.  He still keeps in regular contact with a lot of the Claremont and Marist boys and catches up with them whilst he is back in Perth.  I know a few of the lads he knocks about with and families he grew up with.  In case you hadn't heard they have coffee here, Freo is well known for it.  A lot of what I hear does little to concern me as to wanting to return to Perth, but until he signs there is always that doubt, there are some circumstances which concern me but whatever happens, it happens.

I don't believe for 1 minute this nonsense he didn't like growing up in Perth.  His family no longer lives in Perth but he spends a lot of his off season and in season his breaks back in Perth.  He spends that time here, heading out with mates from his childhood. The main reason he would want to stay in melbourne is to stay with the new mates he has formed bonds with and to be part of something with them

Jesse and his manager are playing this game perfectly he has 2 more years to run and barring a shocking injury his price will rise and rise.  Currently you have Freo being talked about, they wont be throwing the kitchen sink money wise at Macarthy just more than GWS were offering, but don't think for one minute if there is any talk of him wishing to return that Meth Coast wont also be in the race.  Josh Kennedy will be 30 next year so hardly commanding massive dollars or a long term contract.

We currently have him and since Roos and co came on board we are certainly in the box seat and IMO he is ours to lose, we just need to keep this momentum going and keep heading in the right direction with this young core we have and not rest on our laurels.  We will know by early 2017 what Jesse's intentions are

I was right with you up till "momentum"

They're actually very good stats that show clear progression.

I agree. Still messy though.

you're a bit special aren't you? What is 'messy' about it, is it there part where there is 100% correlation of improvement across all bolded stats over both years, a pattern that is so obvious, any child with basic numeracy skills would recognise it?

Jeez I've never known someone's ego to get so bruised so easily.

Explain the comment then, I don't understand what contribution you were trying to make with it

I understand momentum to have a mass behind it. I wasnt kidding that I was with you, but Id have used the word "Promises".

Just because things need to run to plan and the phrase "As long as...." isnt vital to our improvement.

So Hogan will stick around because he likes coffee?

I get the 'travel with a bad back' reason but the things that will keep him around are money and winning.

There is coffee in Perth but it costs $38 a cup, relative to the general high cost of living here.

Jesse will need a huge salary paid to him if he has ambitions of moving back to Perth, particularly if he loves a coffee.

I just think he and his manager are playing it perfectly, the longer it goes the more his stocks rise, get his client the best possible deal to secure his financial future and his career at a club where he is happy, which i think will be the MFC

Patrick Cripps says hi.  Don't know why you have to tar Hogan with the equivalent of the mercenary tag. He's not done one thing to deserve it.

They sell it alright but it's about double the cost.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
