I'm just wondering the last time we won a game when we were favourites. Is that another embarrassing record that needs to be broken?

Granted we wouldn't be favourites too often, but anyone know when was the last time?

Probably round 4 2013 when we beat GWS in that 12 goal last qtr.

The last time we won a game in the month of July was 2011 vs Port in Darwin.

The last time we won a game in the month of August was 2012 vs GWS at the Manuka.

By the time we end up breaking some of these droughts, will it be time to put some of them back up there as it will probably take 4-5 years to break some? :P

Next week is a chance to break two, but one in particular for me. Winning two games in a row is one of the records I really want to fall this year. Even the Blues have managed to win two games in a row this year. Also a chance to knock off the saints.

The 2 in a row is a big one for me. So many times we have a win, and it seems to breed some sort of complacency. This is a winnable game, but St Kilda apply a huge amount of pressure, so hopefully we don't go to water. Playing at the G instead of Etihad is a big plus for us as well.

Yet again we have a chance to knock off two records against the Saints this week.

2 in a row. Beat the Saints. Pity we couldn't get over the line a month ago.

Must win this week.

Possibly no Riewoldt and at the G, and against a side who, until the last quarter against Richmond, had kicked just 10 goals in their last 7 quarters (3 of which vs GWS came in 2 minutes).

St Kilda have been getting a fair bit of positive media recently (a 110 point win does that I guess), but I maintain they are overrated and overhyped. That of course doesn't mean anything and we could easily lose the game convincingly, but we are more than capable of winning this one.

If we kick straight!

Melbourne got the chocolates, Casey seniors and their development side too. There cant be too many times of late where all three Melbourne aligned sides won on the same weekend.

In some weird way, the "bad" win yesterday makes me more confident that we can win 2 in a row than ever before

We seem to get carried away with good wins and come out flat the following week. Maybe this week is the week!

Crossed off Brisbane.

while we are on the "two in a row" gig

how about dawes and howe to play two good games in a row?

Not sure, how short is our memory, or how revised is our recent history, I guess.

Well done Praha, but I've got to ask...your post is all of three words. What exactly did you have to edit?

I put St Kilda instead of Brisbane :P

What happened to him last night?

As far as I know he played out the game and will be available for selection next week.

He looked proppy all game and I reckon if it hadn't been Maddie's match he would've been 50/50. By the look of him at the end of the match he'll be 50/50 again, seven day break will help him though I reckon he'll be underdone.

Doubt he'll play.

Don't worry some VFL [censored] will come in for him and kick 7.0.

Next week a ripping chance to knock another two off the list.

We play our best football against sides between 5th and 14th on the ladder. When we hit the top 4 sides we wilt, when we play bottom 4 sides we buckle under the pressure of expectation. North is right in the bracket of sides I like us playing against (ditto Bulldogs and GWS, when we get to play them).

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
