Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Jeff Garlett Misses Court Appearance

Should we get him in front of a camera and apologise too?

I wouldn't do that to him, I think he's been bashed around the head enough the last 6 months, he needs a little slap on the hand for this but also a little love for the progress he has made thus far, from what I've heard he really has 'lifted' off field with Nev's guidance & despite this incident I think he'll be one of the best bargain pick ups of 2015. I trust in Roosy's player management skills here to do wonders with Jeffy, we seem to have the right people handling the players now so whatever the club does from here I'll back, but I honestly can't see more than a NAB suspension coming from this. We are all about getting some W's this year (as per the AGM) & everyone from the board to the boot studders know it. Jeff can help a lot in that regard if he has a big 2015.

The consequences at Carlton were about as severe as they come, and discipline failed miserably.

Garlett needs hugs from Roosy. Thats why he is with us, same as H.

Carlton are great at discipline. Fevola says hi....

The statement from the Club also said they will continue to gather additional information before deciding what action to take, judicious editing?

nope - not judicious editing at all. - you have actually picked one line out of what is otherwise a fully blunt criticism of the player. I suggest the line you have quoted is a throwaway statement to let supporters know that a decision will be made with full facts in tow. however....

Saty - read the entire statement again - If the additional information exonerates Gartlett in any way then I will retract my opinions on Gartlett and instead call the club idiots for releasing a statement that is straightforward and blunt in its criticism of the players actions without full details. To suggest that Jeff is embarrassed by his actions would suggest that he has not done the right thing and that indeed he hasn't told the club about the charge and missed his court date.

Again - understand where I am coming from - I am not calling for any punishment or action against him that would not be appropriate for you or me or anyone else. And it may be that the appropriate punishment is the court's decision and the club sitting him down and reiterating in the strongest possible terms what the expectations are and nothing more than that.

The club report did indicate they would investigate it and take action. I rely on them to investigate and take appropriate action in mind that the courts will also make a decision.

absolutely happy with that approach.

I don't mind the fact that he stuffed up, I prefer that than these goody goody boys who never put a foot wrong and can't play football.

The main thing he is fit, has completed a full pre season and I for one am excited to see what he produces up forward for us.

really ?

judge will no doubt be told that he has changed his life around, left that nasty corrupt carlton environment and gone to that nice caring club melbourne.

judge will no doubt be impressed and wish him well with a non-custodial sentence

More likely, the Judge will consider that being traded to Melbourne was punishment enough.

Of course, we think otherwise. But if that's what His/Her Honour chooses to believe, I'm fine with that.

In all seriousness, and speaking generally and not specifically about this case, I would have thought driving while having a licence suspended should be dealt with harshly. It was suspended for a reason. Driving while suspended shows a blatant disregard for the law.

Oh it will be dealt with alright

Let's just say he's going to need a lift to training for about the next 3 years

The Best thing the MFC can do is play him with a warning.

According to my Carlton mate who knows Jeff "he needs love"

Punishment and being left out in the cold will only make it worse.

Jeff has had a very different upbringing compared to most.

Yes this is a serious matter but it must be dealt with carefully....(i hope)

I agree SWYL, and importantly, I trust the current MFC people to deal with it in the appropriate way .......... taking account of the interests of both Jeff and the Club. Striking the right balance, without compromising standards, will be the difficult bit.

If the courts don't put him on such a program, I would actually like to see the club get him involved in some sort of community service assisting victims of accidents caused by drunk drivers. He learns a valuable lesson, the club gets a positive public profile and the club, the supporters and Jeff himself get to benefit from his being available to play an uninterrupted season.

If found guilty he gets the mandatory 22 months licence suspension. (2nd offence)

It's driving without a licence is the real problem.

He may get a suspended gaol sentence.

That I guess may force him on the straight and narrow.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
