Well done Ruffles and George on the right into detail training reports.

Love reading them.

Hemingway, I call it the Sunshine Coast effect. In the weeks leading up to the Maroochydore camp, the smart ass Victorian supporters would hang frequent shite on us Qld'ers. In turn, what we saw, present company included, were training reports of the highest quality, and the raising of the bar to such heights that cocky Mexican's soon realised that their standards were quite poor, and to be considered a "decent training reporter", they needed to lift their games.

On behalf of all Qld'ers that assisted in this change, to the rest of you I say "you're welcome"!!!

Sunshine Coast effect or Deep North effect? A little disrespectful to the Mexicans but i understand the inferiority complex you have up there.

I have asked this question before , but do any of the brains trust that frequent training have any inclination or "hunch" on which Rookie has shown the most promise and may be in line for a call up to the senior list?

You're new to the Demonland game aren't you? I'll help you out.

Every rookie and/or youngish player this time of year is on track to being elite, or for the over zealous, already elite.

Better to make up your own mind once you see them play some games.

Not King. 5th in line for the ruck, still lacking the required fitness and frame. MIA from training today.

Unlikely White, currently rehabbing an injury and he's in his first year. So that points to a slower start to preseason games before he can even show something to interest the coaches.

So it comes down to Harmes and van den Berg.

Harmes played some pretty decent VFL footy at times, but is also likely a pretty pure midfield type who might be down the pecking order. If he trains well he might get a preseason chance in the senior team to push his case.

Van den Berg is a bit older and despite coming from an average state league I think he has a more mature body than the rest of the rookies. By all reports is training well. Interestingly he's also training as a forward and with Howe down back we do lack for that medium sized option who can take a grab. I have no idea if Van den Berg can do that at AFL level but maybe if he trains strongly he'll be in with a shot to show what he can do in preseason matches.

Big players ( Dawes) given occasional light sessions to save them from the punishing that happens. Players told to report the slightest injury or suspected problem as soon as it happens. No "getting through it" or "running it out" before the medico's have had a look.

And I thought you weren't listening George haha...really enjoyed the chat today, see you at the AGM

You can come across as a patronising pleb at times.

Maybe it's just me.

It's just you, you and some others really do need to do something with your life rather than just picking holes in what I post.

it was a joke, myself and George had a really good discussion at training, this was one of the topics we discussed,, in fact I have had quite a few good chats at training with various posters.

I actually think I accidentally blanked George at the AGM tonight, if I did George, I apologise

Back on topic, had a chat to Aaron Vandenberg at the AGM, now back in full training, including weights, if we can get him up to AFL standard quickly, and from what I have seen at training it shouldn't be that difficult with all the extra work he is putting in, he is 190cm and has a playing weight of 92Kg, so big boy indeed

Harmes is also working his butt off to impress, both aware there may be an LTI slot come Rd 1

As for Trengove, think inside he hopes to come back this year, the moon boot comes off next week if everything goes to plan, just think he doesn't want to rush anything.

Billy, I think it is "just too much sun effect", you are getting light headed

I just don't read a lot of the posts, ManDee, although I must admit I am guilty sometimes of poking just for the sake of it, just read the reports, you get the gist then, the Mach one reckons I sugar coat, I think we will only be slightly better this year with 6 or 7 wins, some expect finals, hate to read what they would write, or is that just demand

I'll be putting a bit from Fridays training and if good reporters like Ruffles or George are there as well you may got a lot of info, I leave it to them, I get bored with that stuff, prefer to interact with the players and get a bit more inside info which they let me share.......going to see if I can get Petracca to do the guns photo, see how much man love can be generated by one photo....social experiment

Is that Machsy or Mc Queen or both?

In Bullitt Steve McQueen drove a 390GT Fastback, could be confused with a Mach One but I digress.

I reckon you like baiting them. Anyhow keep up the reports any news is better than none, I think.

TDI - which rookie, in your view, is most likely to get elevated?

It seems Vandenberg may have been an absolutely inspired selection. Effectively another player to add to the midfield mix for the entire season.

No but the dilution ratio will be more palatable.

Ron, when Vandenberg arrived and watching the vision available, was';t sure, but now his shoulder is fixed and he is training fully, doesn't look out of place and is a serious size, one of the big bodied midfielders Roos craves, coming from a long way back, but giving it everything, attached himself to Daniel Cross and Jordie McKenzie so no issue there

As for Harmes, can see why they gave him a second year, didn't get a clear run with injuries last year, loves the tough stuff, can kick a goal, very popular member of the squad, and as I put the other day, very coachable........Roos must love it, 2 fighting for 1 upgrade spot if it's there

agree on both statements. this site like others is just a representation of the biases, knowledge differences and divergent views of society. There is your right wing, left wing and moderates, including a few offbeat independants.

these sites are what they are. you read or don't read depending on your interest and whether you can take a light hearted view towards the silly stuff. it's like going to a bullfight. you can put up with the gory bits like when the bull puts his horns through the horse but you admire the bull and the skills of the matador. despite it all, the training reports are great and there a lot of well informed posters which make for interesting reading. gotta be a tragic though.

The only way I see that happening is if we start winning big time.

History over the last few years would suggest it gets worse one the games start.

I think that comes from both sides of this argument if you look closely enough.

I really have difficulty with the subjective and biased sycophants too, there aren't too many around fortunately. If the writer's prejudices distort the observations then the writer's words cease to mean anything.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
