  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Where were these sycophants and hand wringers when Australian Defence Force and Emergency Service personnel were advised against wearing uniforms in public or on mass transport?

So coupla dark people get glared at; brave men and women of our front line security - who put their lives on the line - face having their heads chopped off.

I have but you will have to remind me how many were killed there again? And what was the #hashtag for the original victims in Cronulla that instigated the "riots".

What does the "number killed" have to do with #illridewithyou? The originator had done this to offer some support (more moral than physical) based on her encounter with a woman who was afraid to wear her headscarf as she was concerned she would become a target of misguided anger. The originator did not set this up as a campaign, but rather it grew organically as a result of enough other like minded people adopting the hashtag in a show of support. It only became a "campaign" after the press got onto it and a few "celebrities" got on board.

The original idea was a good one and it is a fact that it is generally women wearing the islamic headwear that are targeted as they are easily identified. I would think that the reason the Cronulla riots were raised above was because it showed that events such as the siege and its subsequent deaths can have violent repercussions and that it is often innocent people who are the victims purely because of some misguided sense of outrage.

Another terrorist attack in France over night. I'm not sure whether they were lone wolves or part of the pack. Hopefully they have a nice #hashtag in France today.

What a spiteful, snide effort. People are dead and you use it for a failed point-scoring exercise.

And what if the original idea was a fraud? What if it was made up just to distract from the real problem?

If that's how you interpret it, then I would think the odds are pretty good that you are the one with the problem.

I love a warm fuzzy story but I also like facts. Do you understand Rachel Jacobs made it up?

I know for a fact that she would hate that you spelled her name wrong.

Do you understand that she did not begin the hashtag?

A sad part of me feels that you, and/or people like you, heard the news from France and responded with a grin. I pray that I'm wrong.

Hang on a second, you went from rhetorical questions: "And what if the original idea was a fraud? What if it was made up just to distract from the real problem?" to the above "stated facts" in the blink of an eye? Methinks you stood in front of a wrecking ball facing the wrong way. You are obviously anti-islam to the point where you create your own facts to somehow justify your intolerance.

Sadly, I tend to think that 45HG might be on the money with his last comment immediately above.

Looks like a no go thread at the moment. Tensions are very high and I am struggling to follow the vitriolic responses. It is a sad day for all, no matter your beliefs except for those two or three well trained, mindless and godless perpetrators who are on the run. May they soon be dealt with by the French authorities.

This latest incident will make life more difficult for all Muslims in Western Europe.

There was significant resentment towards their culture prior to this in counties such as Germany,Belgium,Holland, and France .

I expect to see radical mullahs prosecuted and sentenced to death in the future for inciting violence against their host countries people.

It is very hard to control people who swear allegiance to a fictitious god over the government that is responsible for them.

Also ,as the centre of their faith is in Mecca and is nearly 1200 years out of date and probably not suited to our liberal and permissive culture.

If we can learn anything from this it is that we should not support the Islamisation of our country blindly just to feel warm and fuzzy.

I support any country that begin to incarcerate radical teachers preaching destruction of non believers.

My right to not believe in any of the Dogma pushed on all the poor people of the world in the name of whatever god is more important than anyone's faith to me. Trouble with these holy wars is that the innocent bystanders are the people who have evolved enough to know that religion of any type is a Ponzi scheme for dolts at best and a scam for the feeble minded and lost.

Execute the radicals publicly.Execute the mullahs preaching hate.

They understand death to be glorious so it's win/win .

"Godless" is not an insult.

I'd argue that depends entirely on your point of view.

I suppose that's true, although those who use it as an insult are likely to be in the minority these days. Even the pope said atheists are good people.

It just felt jarring, as I've rarely heard "godless" used in that context outside dated movies and literature.

You can relax, when I woke up to the news it sent a shiver down my spine. I take no joy in terrorism..

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
