Might be time for you to stop putting the glove into Toumpas at every opportunity.

He might very well have you eating a picket fence by the end of next year.

Hnmm I fail to see how enquiring about a drill is "Putting the Glove" into him?

And I got the clarification I sought!

Clearly it was a running drill no more no less, No man to contend with, no footy skills needed, indeed not a footy in sight!!!

It was a good indicator of Cardiovascular efficiency and V0 max capability without lactic acid levels increasing.

And in that exercise Toumpas performed quite well!

The drill would be rather stupid without footballs. Imagine Lumumba kicking this imaginary ball to Toumpas who marks this imaginary ball then handballs this imaginary ball to Bail then takes off to......think before you write

But wasn't this a central part of Neeld's training regime? We were training at elite levels just prior to us being absolutely belted by the Bummers in a round 2 match by 146 if I remember correctly. Obviously our guys were running around witches hats at training and were then stunned on match day when they had to use a real ball and the opposition witches hats actually moved and tackled!!

Vastly different personnel now to what Neeld had to work with. Looking back that list was no where near fit nor skilled enough to do these drills to the elite level required.

Fitness.

"Fitness" in the world of biology often means "ability to reproduce." Sometimes being specific is useful. Probably not on footy forum though.

You know I have never seen you and Matt Burgen in the same room at the same time....just sayin...

I wasn't there for long, and I should have gone and said hello, but I saw Matt Burgen and someone I presume to be TDI talking at training this morning ...

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
