Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

What we need this off season

Tex

Recommended Posts

We need to prioritise getting the following into our club:

Mature bodied inside mid

Mature pacey outside mid

Tall Key Back (i.e. Frost)

Medium Running Defender (i.e. Lumumba)

Small Crumbing Forward

We need the following big pre-seasons from these players:

Hogan - Solid Pre-Season

Watts - Increase Muscle & Strength

Gawn - Increase Muscle & Strength

Howe - Increase Muscle & Strength

Jay K - Increase Muscle and Endurance

Salem - Increase Muscle & Endurance

M Jones - Increase Muscle & Endurance

Pederson - Increase Muscle & Endurance

Trengove - Increase Pace & Endurance

Toumpas - Increase Pace, Muscle & Endurance

Jetta - Increase Endurance

Kent - Increase Endurance

Priority for me is Watts, Gawn and Howe putting on muscle. These three with extra size and strength will dramatically improve their games.

Also Trengove and Toumpas getting faster and fitter will dramatically improve our midfield.

Kent, Jetta, Jay K and Salem should take their games up a level also after another solid pre-season.

And Hogan just has to get through a pre-season.

Fingers crossed on all of the above.

Everyone needs a big preseason - having a great fitness base cannot be underestimated.

Dawes faded after a good start to the season. It is the back end of the season when you see the benefit of a good preseason.

Additions to our 22 for 2015 (injuries permitting) thus far:

  • Hogan
  • Trengove
  • Lumumba
  • Garlett
  • Pick 2 (Petracca or Brayshaw)
  • Pick 3 (trade or draft)

Losses

  • Frawley
  • Clark

My take on what we need:

Running half back - duh.

Inside mid/ tagger - This role was shared between M.Jones & Jordie for the majority of the season...

Crumbing forward - This role was shared between JKH and Kent for most of the season, some experience would be nice

Tall back - Mcdonald is slotted in at CHB for the next 10 years, would prefer Dunn as the 3rd tall (providing rebound) and Garland/ Georgiou aren't big enough to play key position regularly.

A quality ruck/ tall forward who can pinch hit in the ruck – It’s not our biggest need, but it could be at the end of 2015.

If you’re playing one ruckman you need someone to give him a chop-out, if you’re playing two ruckmen you need at least one to be effective elsewhere on the ground.

Pedersen played the chop out ruckman for most of the year, despite massive improvement, physically he is not big enough to compete effectively against most ruckman. He’s 27 turning 28 soon, so could be around for a while, but would prefer him as a swingman KPP.

Despite the occasional haters, Jamar is a good ruckman, but he won’t be around for much longer.

I have no confidence that Spencer will make it (had none in Jamar at the same age though).

Fitzpatrick could be the guy, but based on his health problems I consider it unlikely.

King was being trialled as a key defender at Casey, based on his age would be very unlikely that we’ll see him at AFL level any time soon.

Gawn is the future and could play either 1st ruck or the 2nd ruck role. Based on his running ability you’d assume he’ll be the first ruck, but it depends on who plays the other role (eg. Spencer).

The likes of a Ryder/ Hale/ Sam Day/ Lycett/ Casboult/ Vickery/ Tippett/ Dixon type is what I’m talking about. Someone who consistently gets a goal a game and 5-10 hitouts as a backup ruckman.

Salem, JKH and Barry to improve to become best 22 players

Trengove to play 22 games and recapture early years form

Gawn to finally step up

Viney, Vince and Tyson to go again

Gartlett to recapture form

Frost and Merrett to become top 22 players

Dangerfield or on experienced quality mid and one top line kid from the draft

Terlich. McKenzie, and co. to become backup players at Casey

Grimes to improve disposal and decision making

Jones to play even better but not win the B & F

Hogan to kick 45 goals

Very few injuries

If all that happened we could sneak into the 8

There seems to be an untapped group of school teachers that would sign up lickedy split if we targeted the teachers union with cheap membership for the first year.

Maybe this off season is the time to start.

Dairy farmers wont part with a quid to support a culture of pip pip bravo boys.

We want a coach that can actually roll up the miller shirt sleeves and deliver some proper ousting of jelly bellied backboned squibbs that have represented us of late.

Like most farmers im quite prepared to name names and get rid of time wasters.

Or as we say in the country,"couldnt get a kick in a dairy, reserves for you young fella"

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
