Dayne Beams

Featured Replies

Reports he has requested a trade fo QLD.

Eddie will squeal like a stuck pig, about clubs trying to steal players.

Dayne Beams to Bris, Tom Rockliff and Pearce Hanley to Melb, Chris Dawes to Coll.

EFA Moonshadow... :)

You have to throw in Brent Moloney to Melbourne as well. No wait ... he retired, didn't he?

Ok, throw in Zorko.

Presume the Lions were planning for Beams to extend his Pies contract by a year so it expired at end of 2016 which would coincide with him becoming a restricted free agency.

Interesting to see what Lions offer. Pick 4 is the obvious starter but if I were them I'd hold the line and offer only a player outside of their core players. How much will they want to pay for a player who could come to them for nix in 2 seasons as a restricted free agent or for below market value in 1 season as an out of contract player.

I'd have thought that GC would be into him, good quality experienced finals player...

They're ready to start topping up for a tilt over the next 2-4 yrs.

Lol suck it Ed, shoe's on the other foot one isn't it?

Ah...such a happy place for someone prone to depression to want to move to.

I hope he goes there and I hope they plummet. That would make me very, very, very happy.

Are we comng into an era where we will see more players requesting moves before their contracts expire for special circumstances?

Seems all you have to do these days is just have a little whinge and request a trade and away you go..

He's off to Brisbane.

Not sure Beams is having a whinge. His dad has just beaten cancer and he wants to be closer to him. Players go home often, pretty reasonable circumstance to want to go back to Queensland for mine.

Intresting to see what Rockliff has to say about this...

Ed just said his dad is suffering from cancer so probably shouldnt be laughing that a player is leaving there club. But brisnane or gc would have to give up a fair bit.

Geez Collingwood are turds.

They're perfectly willing to pillage our player who wants out for personal reasons when it suits, but when their own player wants out, they tell him basically to get stuffed and tell Brisbane he is worth more than a pick 4.

I hope the karma bus drives straight over the top of the lot of them.

In fact, what would be much better is to do what most other world sports do and give the players the freedom to move when they want to, within very broad parameters. The idea of 'owning' the rights to players and therefore holding them hostage is ludicrous. The idea of my employer being able to direct which competitor I can and can't work for is just laughable and I'm yet to hear a good reason why footballers should be any different.

So many Pies fans crying foul over Beams and demanding their pick four yet think it is OK to [censored] Clark and give MFC nothing or a late pick. Karma.............. They have a reputation as the most difficult club to deal with in trading and expect the world in return for peanuts.

Think Essendon still own the number 1 tag. At least Pies attempt to get deals done. No team happier about free agency than Essendon. None of this pesky negotiating with other clubs and their unrealistic player evaluations.

Absolute myth that Collingwood didn't know.

Has been rumoured all year.

He becomes a restricted free agent at the end of 2015, from what I understand, and will walk if they don't trade him.

I have a six pack riding on him being at Brisbane by 2016 season.

I'd imagine once Beams dad was diagnosed, this was on the cards. Rumours started floating around July. Apparently his dad would love the Beams boys to play in the same side.

A "whinge" well deserved I would have thought given his dad has had cancer

No its not. You want to play in our comp that's the deal. Just like the drugs code you sign up to.

If you don't want to play, fine. Go somewhere else.

God help us if we end up like the EPL.

Could we potentially get involved in this one though? If the Pies want two Top 10 picks could we get one of their mids for one of our picks? Possibly someone like Jack Redden?

Probably won't happen if our interest in Danger comes to fruition, but I hope the club is keep an eye on things.

I didn't know that was the case, so I apologise for my insensitivity.

We are well on the way

There's that "messiah complex" again.

We never learn..

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
