Dayle Garlett in Custody

I've had a few dealings with Garlett and and have kept my mouth shut, just reading and once again confirming my thoughts on people's ignorance.

Most posters really have no idea. Happy to answer the questions I can in private. A few have suggested he's from a remote community, if that community is 15 minutes from Perth CBD then you'd be correct.

I'd suggest we close the thread, it really serves no purpose.

All I'll say is Garlett is a troubled young man who has no regard for his victims or the people that are affected by his crimes.

You had me up until your last point.

I'd say let the ignorant say what we like in this thread. Get it all out of our system. Garlett clearly cares very little for society, so I don't think we owe him any benefit of the doubt back.

Edit: Is that 15 minutes for the average folk or 15 minutes at 200km/hr?

I agree with you 100%, maybe my last point wasn't well articulated. I've been up since yesterday morning and just had a beer, struggling! Edited by Ethan Tremblay

I have to do that sometimes (shift work) - there's no way I'd still be up at 9:30 the next night and I reckon I'd have collapsed in a heap on the first sip of beer if I was mad enough to try that. Go to bed, man!

All good, I'm in Perth, 3 hours behind! I'll be fast asleep by 9.30 perth time, don't worry about that!

Garlett realised early in his AFL career that he got more attention being a thug and a could've been.
So what did he do, he retired, now he is a thug and a could've been.

While the media continue to write stories about this kid, he will continue to make them, this is his career.

I wish the media could write 'The mentally weak Garlett' before every headline, but of course they cannot do that.

It might deter the kid, he is only doing it for a headline. Keep giving him headlines - and he'll keep giving you a reason to write more.

Gee we're a judgemental lot here on Demonland! But then again if it makes us feel bettter...

Leaving yourself wide open for criticism when you do 200 clicks and post it on social media.

I'd be saying the same about anyone who did this - it is just that Garlett makes a habit of stupid behaviour.

I just hope they can lock him up now, kid needs some to be incapacitated for he seriously injures someone.

I will admit that i was one who wanted us to bring Garlett in with a late draft pick the year prior to Hawthorn drafting him.

I also thought that the Hawks got themselves a bargain with him when they drafted him at their pick (along with Hartung too), thinking that being away from his problems in WA would help him mature and curb the negative influences on him. Only to learn that he developed his methamphetamine addiction in Melbourne, away from home.

Given what has transpired since being drafted, i'm glad we didn't draft him. This kid needs serious help, with the help of his family too (as they no doubt will be his biggest support system). I think it's pretty certain that he will only get better once he hits rock bottom, what that will look like i'm not sure, but if he goes to prison it could be both the best thing for him or the worst. Hopefully for his sake, he will get rehabilitated (as the justice/prison system is designed to do).

Hopefully it ends on a good note, as i don't think he deliberately goes looking for trouble, he just makes poor decisions.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
