I agree with Picket Fence on this.

Wines - massive miss

Toumpas - massive fail

OK, none of us are full time recruiters, but Jimmy appears to me to have the same, "freeze like rabbit in a spotlight", as one ex co-captain.

Deplorable disposal under even the smallest pressure.

We have all seen people improve their disposal (N.Jones), and their physicality (Watts), but can anyone name a player who has improved out of sight, his awareness, game sense, and disposal under pressure?

I cant think of anyone off the top of my head.

Jetta

Jetta

Really?

I just thought they finally found the correct position for him.

I always thought his skills were quite sound, he just couldnt find enough of the ball as a forward.

Was always a closet fan of Jetta. Loved his toughness, and fast, "play on" style.

People like Grimes have never possessed that.

Wonder how ToumpAs would go playing in a role like back pocket

Im not sure he has the natural defensive instinct for a lockdown defensive role. Panics far too easily under pressure, and it would be intensified deep in defence.

I think his only hope, is to gain a massive aerobic tank, and play the loose wingman/linkman role. I just dont think he has the game brain to be a very good player in any other role.

Hope im wrong.

I reckon the key barometer that recruiters need to start identifying in potential draftees is players that:

a) aren't intimidated by pressure

b) apply immense pressure to opponents

It's the way of modern footy and it's why we've gotten our drafting so, so wrong for so, so long.

Agree 100% Lam

That line of thought needs to be applied to trades also.

Ability under pressure is a non-negotiable in modern footy. Just ask the dorks.

Agree

Huge call regarding Salem being better then Wines. The jury is out.

If and If Salems injury concerns don't continue then he may become the better of the two but right now I personally dont like the odds

Lmao what are his injury concerns!? First time he has an injury being at the club and its a 6 week hammy injury. He has been back at Casey for the last 2 weeks FFS.

You dont want players with long term injuries yet you want Wines who has already missed 5 weeks this year with a wrist injury and now with a dislocated shoulder. Shoulder injuries can be far more worse then hammys.

Came on to read about Wines - Read about Toumpas instead...

C'mon Ethan, you know full well that to read about Wines is to read about Toumpas. There's no other way.

I think brayshaw will be better than ollie given theyre quite similar but gus has a far far better outside game and more speed and run

You stated couple of weeks ago you would trade Salem due to his injuries.. Like you said save that for another day and the embarrassment upon yourself

Yeah I worry about injury prone players in early years as I think it stunts development. Nothing embarrassing about that mate.

How's looking like a [censored] feel for provoking a fellow supporter? Pathetic post

Shoulder or hamstring?

If OW gets a good result from his shoulder reco is he still 'injury prone'? Jack Viney may give him a 'welcome back' like he did to Ablett, and that has gone so well for GA who could now be regarded as 'injury prone'.

Salem has a bad hammie from which most recover well - does that make him 'injury prone'?

Herald Sun 2012 Phantom Draft

AFL.com 2012 Phantom Draft

Knightmares 2012 Phantom Draft

Emma Quayle's 2012 Phantom Draft

Take note of who ALL of them have us taking at number 4 and where Wines is in relation to that.
