nah, they might get pick 4 and 7....for Griffen and something i reckon

But pick 4 should be enough for a bloke who's 28 and has question marks over his long-term fitness.

I don't share the expectation that we will land a high quality midfielder each year at trade time. We got lucky last year with Tyson, but young, high quality mids don't move around that often and when they do, are we realistically any more likely than any of the other clubs to land them?

I think part of the problem is Roos was a genius with that trade and gave everyone a lesson in recruiting 101. So why is this a problem? Because now every single team is trying to copy that trade this year. It was the perfect storm of Tyson wanting to leave, having a history of injuries, and GWS desperately wanting Kelly.

4 & 7 for Griffen and 6 would be fair. I don't see GWS giving up 4 & 6 just for Griffen, he's probably only got 3 years left in him, and he has back problems.

Apparently Mark Whiley has rejected an offer from Carlton.

Wouldn't mind having a crack at him.

Me neither, maybe we are and he could end up being part of the frost deal.

My main concern is that Roos is going on hols next wk if my memory serves me correctly.

I know Viney and co r still here but I would prefer Roos to be as well.

Now, it seems pretty clear he's a [censored] off the field, but what would people be willing to give up for Toby Greene? If we had a spare second rounder for him, I'd be willing to do the trade.

Seemed to be fairly dominant at NEAFL and our 2nd round on Frost seems well overs, both of them together seems appropriate. Reckon this isn't outside the realms of possibility.

Thankfully we live in a time where we no longer have to write letters as our only means of communication over long distances.

(Roos doesn't need to be there in person for him to be kept up to date with the hypotheticals/offers/movements of trade week)

Sounds like Lions did not blink re Beams.

Stuck to offer of 5 and 25 (the latter would get Greenwood to Pies). No word from Pies. Effectively pick 5 and Greenwood for Beams. Sounds fair.

Just hope it does not make Coll more stubborn and go even harder in our trade for Lumumba and try to get a pick fro Greenwood. Hope we hold our nerve like the Lions did and not pay overs for HL

Schapelle. A tough hard mid.

definately in & under these days I imagine, use to grappling with the hard nuts. maybe she could mentor watts his name.

Yes but she notoriously has "baggage"

reckon stone could flatten that out.

I wonder if we could work out a deal that saw us target Devon Smith from the Giants, i rate him quite highly and seems like the sort of player who would be less of a priority for them to retain than Shiel and Treloar, float some dollars under his nose and see if we can work a deal out

Shiel will leave, it's just a matter of making the right offer IMO, unless he's on a promise with the Hawks Saints or Pies for 2015.

Make him the offer he can't refuse, & build Devon Smith into it, as Jaksch seems too far gone for us now.

Shiel & DSmith to Dees for P-2, 23, & Bail.

Lions are going to shake things up next season - Rockliff/Beams/Rich/Redden/Christensen/Mayes/Lewis/Hanley/Zorko/Aish. More than decent.

I can't see GWS believing that is a fair trade, that would be steal for us.

Yep, scarily good lineup. Someone on BF mentioned it was a little suss that only a few months after Gil was up there for crisis talks, they assign a new CEO and suddenly all these players want to go to Brisbane.

I know Swann came out talking about how much money they had free in their cap (no doubt Gil's filling their coffers despite the $10m deficit). If it's that easy to lure Christensen/Beams types to Brisbane for the money, don't see why we can't do the same.

I'd take P-7 for Howe...

P-23, 33 & Bail for Devon Smith & Frost

we haven't got a pick around P-15, which I imagine would be enough for Smith. I rate Shiel who would want to come back to Vic; as a P-5 currently, but we could throw something else in to get him.

Leigh is having a big impact I would say, already.

as well as the other footy dept acquisitions.

Trengove and 23 for an unknown 12.

That is quite frankly, retarded.

I think there's clearly more to this than meets the eye.

Or not.

3 and 12 to Collingwood for Beames?

Bingo!

Or Mitchell

I wouldn't give more than pick 3 alone for Mitchell. It has to be someone better. I'm trusting it is. It better be.

Dees should sort out their deal with Geelong for mc with a good draft pick and perhaps a swap of some of our later picks, leave collingwood out of it for now, when they want to trade for HL they can call us. The draft picks give us a bit more leverage to go after other players or pick up something reasonable in the draft should Collingwood continue to F@@t us around. They after all want to get rid of HL probably more that we want him, so let them chase us on this instead, if we miss on him we can pick up another decent player and Collingwood can continue to pay HL's contract.

A week ago everyone was throwing around trades like pick 3 + Trenners for Dangerfield as the best deal in town.

Now it's sacrilege?

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best.
