Unfortunately Song it is a story I have heard about numerous players in the past with so far zero result.

I hope you are correct as we need to win on one of our selections very soon.

However if you can please excuse my sceptism I am not confident and will wait and see

At this stage he may prove to the worst of our top 5 picks. Even Morton is above him at this stage. I only hold out blind hope rather than real optimism that Toumpas will become an AFL player. I really like the kid, and he's got time on his side. Fingers crossed he can find his feet. He looks so far off it at this stage.

I think people have to give him another year at least b4 they write him off. I remember Thompson being in a similar position b4 he turned the corner then unfortunately he left to go to Adelaide due to family. I like Toump's composure under pressure and his elite kicking. He will be a player a link man.

He has that , the composure etc , but hes currently being found out at AFL level. it might well be a perseverance thing. Hes definitely not fit enough and has had setbacks. If he were to remain on the list he'd need to produce next season. This idea of continually giving players all but infinite time to develop is a crock. Tells us we made another dud pick if the case. If he stays and steps up in 15 i'll gladly wear the egg. I dont think he will be on our list if a possibility presents to trade him back to SA.

Melbourne need results/change now. Not in some coming season etc. To the club I think he best represents currency in trading not anything going forward.

its not about personalities, not about this kid being a great bloke blah blah. Its about contributing in a meaningful way on the filed and earning your keep. He doesnt. Hes not alone

Ive tried to work out the Toump for a while. Some say he was very highly rated, others say he was talked up by other recruiters and let slip at last minute to see who would 'take the bait'. I liked his highlight reel early and other clubs were definately circling.

For me he just seems super low on confidence. he was having a massive crack preseason like no other so I actually predicted he was going to have a break out 2014. the fact he didnt was a downer.

Spud of the highest order. Morton number 2

Would Roos ever have drafted him, NO

well that to me is a litmus indeed

is also for mine why he might go up for sale.

11.26am: Melbourne next's coach, Simon Goodwin, has quashed rumours of trading 20-year-old midfielder Jimmy Toumpas on 5AA. We'll have the story soon.

When Roos has spoken of our 'good young players' in the past, including yesterday's presser, he spoke of the usuals: Tyson, Viney, Salem, JKH PLUS Toumpas...

Where this animosity has come from, for a 2ND YEAR PLAYER, is beyond me.

It is not hard to work out

He has so far performed poorly while the guy we overlooked to take him is playing finals winning games.

End of story

Us and multiple other teams overlooked, it happens every draft. Besides, just because some other fella has performed well doesn't mean Toumpas wont. Its unrelated.

And I think everyone has had blinkers about Jimmy, I thought he was more than capable when he played this year and was unlucky to be moved out. Last year was his debut year.

Gee whiz.

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie
