I think the other consideration is it being easier to recruit talent to a club that has undeniable talent in it. Having Danger in our team would be an attractive proposition to lots of other players mulling their options. Kind of washes away the bad taste of the season's second half and replaces it with one of optimism.

The point i'd put to the crows is, 4 wins, 7 games infront in the last quarter, Hogan to come into the side, if danger did join, suddenly we might win these close games and finals wouldn't be out of the question, I don't believe it's as black and white as if he joins us he plays in a bottom 4 side for the next three years, I reckon we won't be that much behind where the crows were this year, plus he'd be home, with a massive pay rise

Interesting they are suggesting he'd potentially be on 1 million a year at the Crows and up to 1.4 mill if he was to come back to Vic. Given thats the case, how many other Victorian clubs could realistically fit him in their cap at present?

Just because he might not want to leave Adelaide doesn't mean he would want to stay if they accepted to trade him.

Imagine if your girlfriend told you she was dumping for you for another guy, your not going to stick around knowing that she wants to be with some other bloke.

If Adelaide accept the offer then why would he want to stay there knowing that they have decided to go on without him ? Plus we would offer him an anus load of $$$ !!

Because there is no such thing as loyalty. There is not even any emotion involved any more. The club and the player are both businesses. If one decides to trade in the other, and then trades back, there are no hard feelings. Cash is king.

Not that I'm suggesting Dangerfield is in the same league as Junior but look at how the Suns stand up when he's around and how badly they folded when he was injured in the last two months of the season.

I also wouldn't advocate putting all of our eggs in one basket either - Roos didn't stop at trading one player last year so the addition of a top shelf marque player and 3 or 4 others together with those coming back from injury and those with plenty of natural improvement in them could make a hell of a lot of difference to the team and the to way Roos coaches them.

Danger has expressed (maybe not publically) a desire to return to Melbourne (city) for the 2nd half of his career.... much like Judd. He has publically and openly refused to entertain an extension to his current contract. He is at least entertaining MFCs approaches, which is now a MFC offer. No doubt he is also entertaining other clubs offers. He is highly likely to leave Adelaide .

Roos seemed to manage ok without getting a star like Dangerfield to Sydney, admittedly he had some pretty handy players like goodes already. No point selling the farm for one player that blows out your entire trade period. If Dangerfield is available for a decent price all well & good.

There is also (obviously) the risk of that player getting hurt, in which case you put a whole bunch of eggs in the one basket then dropped the basket

and then you can't have an omelet , which is bad

I was expecting you to throw the Ablett card. Danger is a good player but nowhere near that good, he is explosive at best but is also tagged out of games too easily for mine.

Ablett is rarely tagged out of games and his value has been shown when he missed the end of the season. He is/was the only player I would throw the kitchen sink at.

I would rather take Crouch from Adelaide anyway.

I'm also not convinced we are serious bidders here at least for 2015. Seems to me we are throwing a lot of hand grenades at the moment and it all maybe a smoke and mirrors game. Everyone from Cameron, Danger to Robinson...would love to know what the real game is.

Remember Danger is a FA in 2016, wouldn't it be better to make a big offer to him now and hold until the next year where he walks and we don't give away the farm.

You're not going to squeeze a contracted superstar from another club to our on-field mess without firstly offering the player a huge wad of cash, and secondly, giving the other club something to seriously consider. In this case, it would be a plump return and the knowledge that we will be knocking with the same offer to Dangerfield in 12 months time, with only one first rounder coming back to Adelaide as compensation.

I'd rate it about a 1% on the probability scale, but I like to imagine we are being active like this.

I wouldn't mind betting the Crows will have another player or more wanting out of there in the next 12 months. I'm going cold on Danger as he could easily end up having physical troubles before his time.

The time to get Danger was 3 or 4 yrs back, when we had the chance.

wtf? it is somehow worse than any other player leaving any other club because the teams are from the same state? If anything it is MORE excusable because he doesn't have t relocate. I wish there was an unwritten law that no other Vic clubs could steal our players
