Changes v GWS - Round 21 @ MCG

Featured Replies

In all seriousness though I think there's a possibility that GWS want to lose this game. Though, its probably because I'm biased and I hate GWS

wot, no hogan?

One notable in: my four year old son, Claude, will be attending his first Demons game on Sunday. I'm a first generation (off the boat!) Dees supporter, so this is a special moment for me - the start of a Demon dynasty.

Congrats to Claude and good luck. Buy him a flag, buy him a jumper, and a big box of tissues.

Come to think of it, MFC branded tissues might be a good line of merchandise for MFC supporters.

So Bail out for Salem basically

Just consider Bail is the likely option to get the defensive forward gig on Heath Shaw, because Salem certainly doesn't have the tank yet to play that role

Cross, Vince and Viney will get any midfield run with roles

Thanks bj - you can't prise the jumper off him, he's as one eyed as they come!

Good on ya 3183 Dee hopefully you have come in at the right time

Thanks Maggot - I came over in 2005, definitely the wrong time, but hopefully things are about to change.

Good news 3183 Dee, we need youngsters like Claude for they are our future and I hope he enjoys Demon success as he grows.

I've been a passionate supporter for 60 years and have no intention of jumping ship.

On topic, in Pedersen, Grimes, Salem - out Bail, Barry, Jones.

Crikey, out Barry? I thought he was pretty good last week.

Welcome 3183~!!

Barry won't be out as Hogan will play at Casey!

Whoo another melbourne supporter!!!!! I barely see any in my day to day life :S hopefully that will change!

They're out there, most are just in hiding

I'm a To and From, Pennant - Leicester Lad.

I'm originally from Ireland, but also a lifelong Toffees fan so I assume we will be supporting different sides in the Premier League this week. Gary Lineker is still the best thing to come out of Leicester

Hope you both have a great day! A good one to pick too, as this will be the only game this year (as far as I am aware) when you can have a kick on the G itself after the game. Used to happen every week, and was a great tradition. Now, it is about the only good thing about a late Sunday game ... Get in there after the siren, dodge the footies flying everywhere, take a selfie if you get a chance, ...

Now sorry I knew (in a biblical), a rather cute petite blonde from Leicester, as an Evertonian Lineker could get the blood flowing in me, but not as much as she could

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.
