Happy for him!

...and us!

Cant wait for him to play his FIRST real game for us

Tom McDonald.

I would imagine he will sign, unless you have news to the contrary.

Won't need to look at Patton and we can now concentrate on picking a couple of quality mids.

I would have thought you want to tie him up for at least three.

It's a virtual 3 though BBO. Still next year to run on his contract plus another 2. Heck, i'd take that over the other possibility.

Absolutely no news. I just think he's very very important.

I suppose that's why roosy didn't mention wanting a forward knowing this was in the works, it's consistent with what my best mate told me though

Jesse understands we have made a massive investment in him and have put alot of time and resources into developing him, roosy flew to Perth to talk to his family personally, and we have been ultra conservative with his back.

Jesse loves Melbourne, roosy and the club and will be around for a long time imo

Great news!

Just an aside - the sooner we move to 'high draft picks get 3 or 4 years automatically' the better...

I just wet my pants a little with excitement!

Is that old age moon??

Just cracked one through the covers....

Couldn't agree more, he's one of my favourite players to watch; just love his aggression and the way he plays it hard, particularly against the new "stars" to get the ascendancy.

Hogan, Frawley and McDonald locked in long term would give us some great depth and flexibility in the big man department. With Dunn taking a step and Pedersen emerging we look ok for talls. Add Dawes, Garland as well as Watts and Howe and we're in good shape. Another ruckman might be all that is missing. A couple of classy mids and an elite kick out of the backline and the jigsaw is looking alright. Hogan might just be the key piece. I was quietly hoping for a 10 year Lynch type deal.

The timing is interesting.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
