We won't get Omeara for the reasons you have stated PSD but if Fyfe is still hanging out for a DOCKER contract then we should be right in his managers ear.

Sounds very silly in this day and age and from a bygone era, but he actually just wants to play footy and concentrate on that. I know we hear this trundled out by player agents with such regularity but Fyfe is a simple country lad (and from someone close to him) he has no intention of leaving, he loves the club and believes they will look after him.

I think he is aware there is more money available at other clubs, but he will be financially looked after by Fremantle. Funny you mention Meth Coast, I have said to a few of their supporters what you lack through your midfield is big bodies and we all know Fyfe wants to stay in WA, they would have been better served off loading Nic Nat and putting that money towards Fyfe to boost their midfield

Agree 100%, I believe he would rather have a number of quality mids than blowing the bank on an out and out gun, wasn't his style at Sydney and part of the reason why the bloods culture thrived

I also agree. He flagged today that the dees still needs mids, plural and that's what they would be after come trade period (tall ones at that). Can't see why they wouldn't try a similar strategy that netted Tyson and Salem and i can see the dees developing a good relationship with GWS to engineer trade win wins over the next 2-3 years.

Trading back into high draft picks is smart by GWS as it ensures a good age range across their list and mitigates against having a successful side in 3 years but with a bubble of good players around the same age with a drop off in quality behind it.

We also appear to have a plethora of developed KP Players that may well become handy trading pieces. Plenty of clubs have a shortage of KP players. This opens up possibilities of 3 way trade.

Just as well that's our thinking. We are still 18th for clearances in the comp. Our midfield isn't third world this year, it's vastly improved, but there's a lot of hard workers in there, without a spread of class. Roos spoke about this on AFL360 too. We just lack that Pendlebury and Swan combo that the other midfielders can hang off. I think what he's actually signalling is that if the price was right, we would still go out for a big name, but he's probably more realistic in thinking that we'll have to go for 'relative unknowns, yet to reach their peak'. As PSD highlighted, it's never been his style to go for big names, but if a Pendlebury was available, there's no doubt Roos would pounce.

Bloody hell it fills me with confidence watching Roosy speak on AFL360. Has to be only a matter of time for success with this guy at the helm.

The previous regime were obsessed with MFC fitness levels and the previous coach spent his first year getting them to a level of fitness comparable to the Woods. At the beginning of 2013 he reported to the board that they were ready go. He appeared to have spent so much time concentrating on fitness he forgot about playing football. What Roos has done is get some half decent players into the midfield, abandoned the money ball approach and made the players use that fitness to run both ways especially down back when we don't have the ball. He is right we were a long way off in that respect. Even today his presser declared that we still need some class in the midfield

Don't agree with this. I think Roos has very much taken this approach but just been more successful with it. Compare Tyson, Cross, Vince, Michie and Riley with Clark, Byrnes, Sellar, Gillies, Dawes, Petersen, Rodan.

In Neeld's defence, he couldn't have foreseen Clark's injuries and he would have found it more difficult to attract talent because he was an unproven coach with a dysfunctional back of house.

I've been around long enough to see us go down this path before and know that it doesn't work.

Judd/Carlton in the end has been a failure, Carlton have a messiah complex that we also have been guilty of.

Buddy at Sydney is a different story as he is not coming in as the messiah, but topping up a really good list with added class. Ablett was the cornerstone of building a new team from the ground up.

Roos says he is about team and I believe this is how we will go, getting one big fish at this time of our development would be a backward step as good as Fyfe and Dangerfield are. Team first then look at who is available down the track if they can add to the team.

Just finished reading the Wayne Carey book and he mentioned he met with Paul Roos after the cheating saga and he put to Carey a Lucrative package to join Sydney. He turned it down because he believed Adelaide was always his go and was basically his hometown.

In Barry Halls book he mentioned how Paul Roos met up with Fev in 2009 about the possible of joining the joins. Again turned it down. Fev also mentions this in his book.

Just because they are characters doesn't he completely crosses them off their list Saty. Talk about over reacting. He has the ability to turn these blokes into footy hero's

Fact is Roos isn't afraid to go out and spend big if he has too. Doesn't matter who it is.

He also has the ability to get these types to perform on the footy field fit them into the culture he is building. Carey turned down Roos because he just wanted to be close to family and friends. As he mentioned it was quite a lucrative package. Same as for Fevola.

To me that puts to bed the perception that Roos won't spend big.

If the right player if there then he will.

Dangerfield should be the No 1 hunting ground for me....

I'd also throw the sink at Sloane if he was available...Fyfe will command big $$$...Depends what $$ we have to throw around after Mitch leaving.....

we have room in our salary cap for a big named player i doubt that Roos is going to let that go. The problem with attracting big name players last year is that we looked a basket case and no big names wanted to come. now with some $$$$'s incentives and the chance to move to an improving MFC and be coached by Roos there is a much better chance of us nabbing a big name player.

I rather like the two for one deals because we certainly need more talent into the club and quickly.

Getting both Tyson and pick 9 was a masterstroke ( looks to be at this stage).
