I Predict some savage delistings / trades/sackings, coming out of Geelong in the next few days

Posted (edited)

Won't make any difference. Frawley is probably overseas and he can't admit he's going to Geelong until October.

October 3 is the date that FA opens and when it can be announced.

Personally I can't c why something can't be announced once both teams are out of the finals.

That way we can all farting get on with it.

Cats slide continues, out in straight sets, first side since Weagles in 2007 to do so... not even top 6, with North moving past them.

Interesting decision for James.

Posted

what makes it even worse is Prendergast said he rated Gysberts the third best midfielder in the draft behind Scully and Trengove (overlooking Martin)!!!!!

He sure knew how to pick 'em

Yep, never mind Morabito & Cunnington. Won't hang him for Fyfe and Christiansen, 15 other clubs passed on those two at least once.

Good Luck at the Cattery. The Dynasty is over.

You can still commit to Roos

He will rise the MFC Chip not that you helped the cause much in '14.

The choice is yours to make.

Well at least with the Cats out he can hint that is where he is going. Roos is even trying to [censored] off pick 3 he is so certain he will leave, indeed can we affor for him not to go. I too the Cats slide a bit they have had a good run at it and now it is time to slip

I too can see the Cats entering a new era. A great deal has been said about the fact that they've remained at the top without the need for a rebuild but it's now looking more like they were buoyed up by having so many great players in their premiership era that prolonged their days up there. It's not dissimilar to Melbourne fifty years ago and St. Kilda of two or three years ago - they have a large number of players approaching or over 30 on their list. When they depart in the next two to three years, they are likely to become a shell of their old selves and go into rapid decline. If Frawley leaves Melbourne for the money, fame and glory, the schadenfreude in me wills his club to be Geelong.

All media reports think he is going to Geelong but he will probably end up at Sydney or Hawthorn

Walker has probably saved his skin the last 2 weeks.

I'm not sure of contracts, but I'd suspect Mitch Brown is gone, Schroder, Taylor Hunt, Cowan...

Maybe more. Nick Bourke definitely gone. Maybe Hamling. Stringer or McCarthy maybe, but not likely.

Thing is, they may hold onto some for trade possibilities.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Kersten move, while he is flashy and new, and presumably has a bit of currency.

He's a bit soft in the head and will frustrate for a long time if they keep him.

Would not be surprised if Kelly retires. Bartel should definitely think about it, Enright will scrape together one more year, Rivers, Mackie and Lonergan not long to go.

Varcoe probably up for trade.

I think they rate Varcoe higher internally. I do too. Keeper for mine.

Enright, Bartel and Kelly will be interesting.

Kel won't likely go around again, from what I'm told.

Doesn't have many close friends at the club any more.

Never seen Enright or Bartel struggle so much to impose themselves on the contest.

I've always thought Bartel was prone to suspect kicking at crucial moments.

I thought he handed it straight back a few times last night.

Enright & Mackie copped a bit internally for their performances last night.

Will be interesting to see.

Not exactly walking into a sure thing finals side, Mr. Frawley...

Saw cunnington kick 10 as a 15 yo in his first senior game.

Yes drafting is a lottery, but everybody i spoke to,including 3 scouts from different clubs, all said cunners would be top 10.

He had pedigree, born leader, never give up attitude and skills inside to die for.

Bet north are spewing they drafted him.

They will need to look at putting some value up for trade though and he would be one. If they rely on free agents to top up they will be well and truly on the slide.

Jimmy Bartel will have some good games but he is making more mistakes and playing less good games as time goes on. He should go out on top.

They are placing a lot on the idea of Vardy making it or Taylor making it as a forward. I don't think Taylor is a forward and it is effecting his game moving him around. He needs to be settled for mine. Vardy has shown no more than Stanley at St Kilda.

With Selwood and Hawkins along with Duncan, Christianson and Caddy...they will be ok but not the powerhouse any longer. If Hawkins goes down forget it.

It'd be pretty damn funny if he never plays a final in his career, if he leaves us to play finals.

If he decides to go then my hope is Geelong. How sweet would it be for us to overtake them in the next three seasons, and if that happens he'll end up a nobody. No one will care about him at Geelong and the same at Melbourne.

If he doesn't want to stay then [censored] him

If he wants success then he should be steering clear of the Cats who are (finally) on the slide. They may just cling to a top 8 spot next year, but they will eventually sink to mid table and it will be a while before they are challenging for a flag again.

Suns or Pies would be the better choice.

So hopefully he goes to the Cats :)

Dare I say it but I'm with you on this one Machsy. I have also been watching Bartel closely in the last couple of weeks and if he's not running forward of the play to get cherry kicks, I'll go he. He's also slowing, down markedly.

Reckon cats would be filthy on not selecting Brodie Grundy now. Was linked to him pre draft and had an interview with them day before the draft only to be overlooked for Jackson Thurlow.

They desperately needed a ruckman last night. He would have been handy.

Agreed Dazzle. They were horribly exposed there last night. And I've got to say it, no one gets a run with the umps like Geelong IMO. There were some frees late in that game which were truly mind boggling.

Caddy was bloody good though. Makes you think he was running dead at Gold Coast.

Cats are in trouble - no rucks, only 1 forward, many ageing stars and not too many above average up and comers.

Bartel,, Enright, Mackie, Kelly are all on the turn IMO.

Go for it Chip.

Forgot Varcoe and Stokes - how bad were they!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
