Really tired of the mind games from someone who was nominated a leader of the club. Setting a terrible example now that we're making such tangible progress under Roos, to constantly say he's waiting to see what progress we make before he recommits. The progress is bloody obvious, so are you part of this or not Chip?

What lousy leadership. No one player is bigger than the club but he certainly seems to think so. Crossy is getting paid less and is my idea of a true leader for our young players.

If he goes to Freo or hawthorn then fine because he gets his finals wish but if he goes to GWS I will be filthy. Then to me thats just about money. I cant see him doing that though.

It would be nice if he showed some faith like Dunn did today and Boak and others did at Port.

Oddly, every game we win reduces Frawley's trade value. If we finish bottom we get pick 1 and pick 2 as compensation. If we finish 10th we get pick 10 and 11 as compensation. Etc. There must be some happy medium value at which point we try to keep Frawley because his trade value has been too greatly diminished. That said, Roos seems to think that there is not a whole lot of difference between picks 1 and, say, 10. So the Dees might just feel consecutive picks anywhere in the top 10 are too good to knock back.

(Disclaimer: Other clubs' compo picks may throw out the rankings.)

I don't think there's any evidence that he thinks this generally, just last year you could mount that argument. If you're going for midfielders, they can be found anywhere. Yes, the top 3 is always good for 'elite' midfield talent, but it's KPFs who are rarely found outside of the top 5.

i think he will re sign with us. Apparently the interested clubs are adelaide, carlton and hawthorn. If he wants a premiership, he won't go to carlton. Id be surprised if he wanted to move to SA. Hawthorn is running out of time for another premiership with a number of there best at 30. and we saw what they're like without those senior players atm.

with our improvement and the fact that our coaching staff is A+, i don't see why we can't play finals next year.

I've heard Carlton, Hawthorn, Fremantle, Westcoast, Gold Coast, GWS, Bulldogs, Collingwood, Richmond, Stkilda, Crows, and Lions are all interested

I'm not going to get my hopes up. I would like him to stay but if he doesn't - life goes on. We will continue to improve with or without Chip.

probably.

Thats right. Love him to stay, because he's a great player and appears to be a good character. But if he leaves, its not going to be the end of the world. The club will still continue its improvement.

I would like him to stay but if it is a flag, finals or to play in a GF I think he will leave. Agree didn't like his body language on the vid and with Dunne signing on, Roos saying he will be around (not necessarily as coach) and a greatly improved on field performance all the things he wants to review happening, suggest he should sign on now. I feel he is stalling and will move on at seasons end as is his prerogative under free agency.

He seems to have changed his tune slightly from seeing where the club is heading to wanting a chance at a premiership. I expect if he goes anywhere it will be Hawthorn, Freo or Adelaide in that order. I seriously doubt he will leave for cash to a club with similar or less hope of success than us. Whilst the situation has in some ways created the opportunity, I feel our removal of him from our defensive 6 is in part to set us for next year and beyond. I would say based on these factors he is more then likely gone and watching our progress without him there this year it could be a good win for both parties.

he did look a bit jittery at the start of the recording, looking down at the ground, and his responses weren't great. bit shakey.

he said he wants consistency, i feel like the boys have played 8 consistent games now. see what happens.

If Frawley can't see how much potential and promise our team has with this list, and just wants to buy himself a premiership, he'll live to regret it. Of all the teams in the bottom 8, Melbourne's has by far the most potential. And with the salary cap changes to the veterans allowance beginning in 2015, Hawthorn and Geelong will have some massive problems with retention of their senior list.

He'd be very shortsighted indeed.

His words say one thing ""I love the Melbourne Football Club, they've done so much for me and have given me the opportunity to play football. I love the club and I owe a lot to them."

But his actions say another.

IMO he's gone and stalling with excuses till end of the season. What other choice does he have.

I'm abit surprised by the 2 to 1 thinking he would stay, I kind of expected it to be the other way around

Exactly. If he wants to leave, he has to keep it quiet and try not to choke on his words before the final siren of our last game. If he wants to stay, he can sign a contract and get on with things.

I see it like a bloke trying to baulk a tackler. The upper body, (Frawleys words), go one direction but if the tackler has any hope of getting him he should focus on the what the hips are doing - in this case the hips are Frawley's action or inaction as it would be more appropriate to describe it as.

Watch the hips

I don't think there is much to take away from the interview. Watching his eyes, and remember the guy is taller than most, although the camera was at head height it looks as thought he is most likely being interviewed by someone shorter than him. I assume it was the woman who was relaying the story on AFL.com who was the interviewer, which might explain why he was looking down.

They also show some highlights of him talking to Dunn, and he's looking Dunn in the eyes every other second. I put it to those of you judging his body language, is it not possible that his body was angled away from the camera towards the woman interviewing him, who was most likely shorter than him (given there's not that many people who are around 193cms tall), resulting in frawley looking down in an attempt to make eye contact with the interviewer, albeit infrequently.

Now if that was the case, how would you view the video?

I only raise this to show that it would appear flawed to rely on this video clip to form a view on whether or not he is staying unless you are 100% certain of how the the interview was set up, where the interviewer was, and what the height of the interviewer was. Also, factoring in that he has never appeared comfortable in front of the camera, his body language could be viewed as consistent with previous interviews and therefore not suspect in any way.

To me, if we can we 3 or 4 more games, and really challenge finals bound teams, he will stay.

He will see what happened with Port last year and this year, and see that the direction we are taking is similar. We have solid young prospects all over the ground, which some other promising young teams (outside of the expansion clubs) do not.

I assume that every club in the league would be hoping they can land him.......really, every team in the league could do with a KPP like Frawley. 25, a past All Australian who can play multiple positions, and who possesses a combination of strength and athleticism that few his size do.

If we keep going as we are, and win more games and don't get blown out, showing that we are consistently improving, i reckon he'll be back.

If anything, this year has shown to me that we do actually have a talented list (which Roos acknowledged when he started) and they just needed proper guidance. Now that we have that, I reckon we could be pushing for finals next year.

Most of you said goodbye to Watts after his appearance on the footy show.

FA has brought a new world, get used to players re-signing later and later.

Add to that the pot just got bigger yesterday.

Add to that the pot just got bigger yesterday.

Yes, it did, especially for clubs like us who don't pay the whole cap. We can carry over as much as 5% of the cap ~$500k into the next season(s) on top of the cap.

I think the Saints are going to throw huge cash at him 600 - 650k a year over 4.

I only think he is worth 400 -450 a year.

I think if he does go, it certainly won't be to a club that isn't in contention. He probably is worth the 600K that is being thrown around and I think we will pay that much to keep him. However if a club that has their premiership window open and is prepared to pay overs for a top up player they'll probably get him. I don't think they'll be picking him as a forward prospect but we all know his ability down back.

He seems to have changed his tune slightly from seeing where the club is heading to wanting a chance at a premiership. I don't see any of those teams as contenders after this year.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The Demons return to Casey Fields (aka the Field of Dreams) this Saturday to host the Saints in Round 2. If you’re feeling lucky, head down the Monash for some family-friendly footy—you might even walk away a winner. The first 5,000 adults through the gate will receive an entry into the $10,000 helicopter ball drop. With Casey’s infamous wind, what could possibly go wrong? Closest ball to the pin wins. So spread the word, get down there—and good luck!

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.
