I've got it at 5 plus Clark which is 6. Barry is the one up in the air but he's got pace, endurance and is following the coaches instructions at Casey. Even if he's not getting a kick I think he finds another year. McKenzie, Fitzy and Evans are 3 who are contracted but could be traded out but I doubt there's much interest and all 3 have shown something at AFL level so you never know if a second preseason under Roos could turn them around. In fact they could all play big roles in the rest of this year.

So you're thinking Blease, Tapscott, Byrnes, Nicholson and Strauss, plus Clark, GRRM/tm? ;) I can see them persevering with Strauss and Blease, but I don't hold out much hope for them.

Best thing we can do to get the guys we want to re-sign is to win games, lots of games. A spirited victory on Monday would help massively.

theres for mine a distinct irony about all of this.

Essentially the people we would look to re sign will be responsible for the performance of the team that is to supposedly inspire them to re sign !!

Dunn will repay the faith I think, and it's vital we keep one of chip or Tommy mac, I am absolutely certain both are attracting strong interest

Fascinating to see who goes here. Tapscott, Byrnes and Nicholson will be first out the door. Strauss, Blease and Barry will be next in line. I'd say we'll delist 6. I think Frawley will stay, so it'll be interesting to see whether they keep Spencer and they'll upgrade Georgiou and Jetta.

I reckon I can see 4 that will be on the chopping block for 2015, but a long way to go there.

I think we'll re-sign everyone for next year.

I think its 12 months too soon to do anything Re the rucks. Jamar is OOC next year, & is (31) this August. Next in line maturity wise is Spencer, currently(24.7) followed by Gawn (22.5), both inexperienced by AFL ruck standards. Then we have a rookie in Max King, unplayed yet & (18.8). And we have Fitzpatrick [forward] developing, (22.11)

However with Clark gone, we could rookie another.

Re the mids, I would look to rookie 2 of Strauss & Barry, & possibly Tapscott? Georgiou could stay as a rookie? Jetta 1 Yr?

#edit: dunn, a deal for the much improved outback Dunny. for 3

Blease, Strauss and Tapscott traded for late picks if possible

Evans and Barry probably re-rookied for mine.

I'm pretty sure Evans has at least another year to run on his three year contract.

And I tend to agree that we probably won't make a move on rucks this season, so Spencer will be safe and IMO is worth pursuing anyway.

Geeze, we got some bloody signing to do in the next few years!

Lucky we are playing better.

It's not really surprising. The average contract length is probably around three years - exceptional players may get more and those close to the end of their careers due to age or performance are likely to get less. With a list of 48, that's 16 each year, on average, coming out of contract.

Jones will sign. Heart & Soul

i have to agree here... Jones doesn't seem the type of person, who would hold his club to ransom...

If he did leave, he'd be the first captain to leave their club for free agent money... Im not sure Jones would want to be remembered that way...

Personally i think Trengove will be harder to keep... After the way our club has handled his career so far, I wouldn't blame him if he choose to go back home...

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
